It can be considered quite controversial in these complicated times to display the English flag of St. George’s Cross, one-third of the Union Flag of a united Great Britain.

The English flag seems to have been hijacked, weaponised and tainted with hate by the far-right of the country, and yet it is rather ironic that Saint George was born in Cappadocia, Turkey, circa 270 AD, and he didn’t ever set foot on the shores of England…

Like many Christian festivals, Easter originated as Ēostre, an ancient pagan celebration of the spring equinox.

As the Gospel of Christos - the Messiah or “Anointed One” - spread, early Christians merged their ceremonies with the pagan spring festival, recognising Easter as "Resurrection Day.” The day was dedicated to observing the resurrection of Jesus Christ - crucified two days before on Good Friday - celebrated around the time of the Jewish Passover.

Easter and all of its relatable holidays are what is known as “moveable feasts,” not falling on a fixed date. In a process that has taken centuries to perfect, Easter Sunday has come to be the first Sunday after the ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or soonest after 21 March.

The principal reason we change the clocks forward by one hour is to get the most out of the daylight as we hurtle towards Summer.

Nowadays, our devices do this for us.

So if you’re a nan with actual clocks in your house, don’t forget to put your clocks forward by one hour tonight after the Ten O’Clock News.

If you’re a young, happy-slapping hoodlum with TikTok and an ASBO, you’ll just be getting one hour less of sleep - so instead of getting up at midday, you’ll be getting up at 1 PM, and your ‘phone will have done it for you.

The German Government introduced the first clock-change in 1916 during the First World War as a means of saving energy; the longer the daylight lasted, the less electricity was required.

The four-day Easter weekend starts today!

This has been a strange week for : we have been a member of the Fortec Distribution Network for ten years next month, and this week we joined its big sister Pall-Ex UK.

Due to circumstances, though, it’s been a something of a tumultuous time in the run-up to Easter, but things will improve and we’re confident that we will meet all the challenges that being in one of the most trail-blazing and influential pallet networks brings.

And it’s important to remember that the world’s first zombie came back from the dead to give us all this four-day weekend.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all of our fellow members of Fortec Distribution Network and Pall-Ex UK from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The Feast of Saint Patrick celebrates the death of Ireland's favourite snake-hating Christian missionary in 461 AD.
