Fantastic announcement from Perth and Kinross Council ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ‘‡

The Convener and Vice-Convener of our Climate Change and Sustainability Committee have today announced our commitment to buy four MPVs (6-8 seater vehicles) to support community transport groups to build local alternatives to single car journeys.

Councillor Richard Watters, Convener of the Councilโ€™s Climate Change and Sustainability Committee, said: โ€œPerth and Kinrossโ€™s unique blend of urban and rural areas needs a range of solutions if weโ€™re to make shared transport an attractive option for residents. The fantastic work being done through the Glenfarg Community Transport Group shows how community-led initiatives can be a really powerful tool.

โ€œBy working in partnership with local communities and providing practical alternatives to private car use, weโ€™re taking meaningful steps toward a greener, more sustainable Perth and Kinross.โ€

Councillor Liz Barrett, Vice-Convener of Climate Change and Sustainability added: โ€œThe evidence is clear โ€“ fewer vehicles on the road is better for the environment, better for air quality and therefore health, and better for keeping residents connected. More community transport will give more residents access to more job and leisure opportunities across Perth and Kinross.โ€
