🌍 A Green Adventure in Andalusia! 🚗🌱
I am currently taking part in a Sustainability Programme to dive deeper into how we can make greener, more conscious choices when we travel. It’s been so eye-opening already, and I can’t wait to keep sharing all this fresh knowledge with you so we can plan adventures that are both amazing for you and kinder to our beautiful planet! 💚
To kick things off, I wanted to share a little story from our half-term family holiday to Andalusia, Spain last week, where we put some eco-ideas into practice.
We rented an electric car for our stay, and one day we decided to make the 2.5-hour drive down to Gibraltar. Instead of booking a standard tour when we arrived, we decided to try a greener approach and rented e-bikes to explore the famous Rock.
It was hands-down the best decision we made! 🙌
🌱 The Magic: We spent 4 active hours cycling, taking in the jaw-dropping scenery, and soaking up the sunshine. We got up close and personal with the famous monkeys in their natural habitat! 🐒
🌱 The Reality Check: As we cycled, we watched streams of standard taxis idling in traffic, with tourists packed together at the main viewpoints. Meanwhile, we just breezed right past the crowds! 🚲✨
🌱 The E-Bike Secret: If you're worried about those steep climbs don't be! The electric boost does the hard work for you. We conquered the big hills effortlessly and weren't tired at all.
🌱 The Cost: Not only was it a much better, more active experience, but the bikes cost us just 1/4 of the price of a taxi tour! 💰
After our ride, we grabbed some lunch and headed out on a boat trip to see the dolphins. It was absolutely magical for our little girl. When she saw them jumping out of the water and blowing air, she turned to us and said she thought they were coughing! 🐬😂 (Kids say the funniest things, right?)
The Takeaway? 🤔
Choosing sustainable travel doesn't mean missing out or paying more. In fact, it often means a cheaper, more authentic, and much more memorable experience for the whole family.
As I continue with my sustainability training, I'll be sharing plenty more tips with you all!
