It’s incredibly easy to get caught up in the rush of ‘getting there’ that we forget to just... be there. When we first started touring in a motorhome, we thought a stopover was just a grid reference. A place to park up, close the blinds, and turn off the engine for the night. But the longer we spend on the road, the more we realise that the coordinates aren’t the destination. The destination is the quiet, unexpected corners you stumble into along the way.
It’s standing on a silent ridge, watching the sun dip below the hills with your favourite people (and pups), completely detached from the noise of crowded campsites. You can stay overnight in your motorhome/campervan at this 200-year-old Somerset cider farm for completely FREE?! Yep, Somerset is seriously showing off. If you’re looking for the ultimate road trip stopover, this is your sign to lock in a night at Sheppy’s Cider Farm.

Stepping onto this 370-acre independent estate feels like stepping back in time. The Sheppy family has been crafting premium cider here for six generations—pressing every single home-grown apple right on-site!

While the orchard strolls and resident farm donkeys are amazing, the House of Cider farm shop completely stole our hearts. We’re talking a fully loaded deli, an artisan cheesemonger stacked with Somerset Brie, and freshly baked Westcountry pies that are practically mandatory for van life dinners.

We grabbed a few bottles of their Special Edition ‘200’ craft cider, a couple of pies, and watched a stunning rainbow clear up right over the van. It doesn’t get much better than this.
