Over the next couple of months I am very lucky to be heading off on two more special work trips, plus a sneaky R&R weekend in the sun, work trips allow me to bring back first hand knowledge and inspiration for your future holidays and adventure

🛳18 – 28 September : Seattle & Alaska
I am joining the Travel Counsellors Gold Trip, flying out to Seattle on 18th September for 1 night before joining NCL Bliss Alaska cruise, we are sailing from Seattle, to Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria, before heading back to Seattle for one night on my own to explore the city, and maybe grab a coffee in the original Starbucks

🚂4- 10 October – Canada & Rocky Mountaineer
I am very lucky to have won a place on this trip, along with 7 other Travel Counsellors we are flying from Manchester to Vancouver and back from Calgary, and we are taking the Famous Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver, that is all we know so far but I know this trip is going to be amazing, the Rocky Mountaineer has been on my bucket list forever

🌴29 October – 3 November – Tenerife
I have been here all summer working hard supporting my lovely clients, making sure everyone’s holidays have gone to plan, it is now my turn for a little bit of R&R, I am heading off to Tenerife for 5 nights for a quick bit of sunshine and a good book, along with checking out a few hotels along the way,

👥While I am away the team here will be on hand and on the work trips I will have my laptop too, but times difference and jam packed itineraries mean my replies will take longer than normal,

Hello September!

Wow how is it the 9th month of 2026, summer has gone by in a blink of an eye, it is nearly back to school, ( I hear all those parents cheering) and everyone can back to a normal routine, hope you have all had a great summer!

August was a super busy month, my second highest month in sales since I started 13 years ago, with bookings to IKOS Dassia and Porto Sani for 2027, Australia, Maldives, Italy Egypt, New York, Nashville and more

September is my biggest departure month with 35 departures off to all over the world, Turkey, Italy, Marrakech, Canada, Spain, USA road trips, Australia, Egypt, Portugal, Canary Islands, Balearic Island, Rhodes, Antigua, Dominican republic and more

I am also away in September on my Travel Counsellors Gold Trip to Alaska, ( 17 sleeps ) more about that and some other work trips I have coming up later in the week. As always the team will be on hand if any emergencies arise,

It’s coming to the end of the school holidays and the kids are back at school next week, I have lots of clients away right now enjoying some last minute sunshine, each holiday I book is very different and as you can see no two bookings are the same

🌏Family in Tunisia enjoying a last minute holiday before son is back to school next week, 5* All inclusive with waster slides

🌏Greek Islands Cruise – Sailing with P&O from Malta on Azura enjoying the Greek islands stopping at one of my favourite islands Santorini, celebrating a belated wedding anniversary

🌏Denmark – two friends attending a Knitting retreat, and we added on Copenhagen

🌍G Adventures Sorrento tour with extension in Puglia

🌏Thailand – celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary in Krabi and then Koh Samui in the same hotel they went on their honeymoon

🌍Puglia – Multi generational holiday staying in a stunning villa in Puglia

🌏Australia – Family holiday, Mum is running the Sydney Marathon this weekend ( good luck) and they have all travelled different routes, Stopovers in Singapore on the way, and road trips from Brisbane to Sydney stopping in Bryon Bay, Port Macquarie, Hunter Valley and Blue Mountains, and one flying straight to Sydney then continuing her adventure on the way home with stops in South Korea and Japan, a real bucket list trip!

Many of you will already “know” Linda, even if you have not met her in person. She is the friendly name behind so many of the emails and updates you receive, and the one quietly working away behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly for my travellers.

From double-checking the finer details of your itinerary to helping me keep on top of documents, timings and special requests, Linda is my organisational superstar. Quite honestly, I could not do what I do without her.

Today is World Entrepreneur Day feels like the perfect moment re introduce myself and to share a little bit of my journey with you as although I don’t always think of myself as one I am an entrepreneur

I’m Sharon and I have worked in travel for 33 years. ( not sure how when I am still only 25 !) Next month I will be celebrating 13 years of running my own business as an independent Travel Counsellor, and I am incredibly proud to say I have now achieved over £8.5 million in lifetime sales. From my very first booking to today, every single holiday has meant the world to me.

I started my business on 24 September 2013 with zero clients, no guaranteed income and a big leap of faith after being made redundant from Thomas Cook, where I had spent 20 years learning my trade and making dreams a reality.

I still remember my very first booking as a Travel Counsellor: a half term holiday to Turkey for my friend Michelle. Nearly 13 years on, I have booked well over 2000 holidays and sent thousands of travellers off on their adventures, all from my little spare-bedroom office, supported in recent years by Linda, my brilliant after-sales concierge.

This is not a side hustle for me, it is my career and my passion.

• 33 years of industry experience, is a long time! from college days in Travel & Tourism in 1991 to managing branches at Thomas Cook

• Lived through and worked through 9/11, ash clouds, wildfires, volcano eruptions, hurricanes, Covid and more

• Dealt with cancelled flights, natural disasters and all the “what ifs” so my customers are never left on their own

You cannot become a travel expert overnight. It is a complex industry that does not always run smoothly, which is exactly why having someone on your side really matters.

Holidays are precious: you save hard-earned money for them and you cannot see or touch them before you buy, so you need someone you can trust.

A little about how I work:•

- I am self-employed and this is my full-time and only job
- I do not get paid until you actually travel
- I look after your holiday as if it were my own
- I am always on hand for you, supported by a fantastic 24-hour duty team
- I am well-travelled and have amazing contacts within the industry

My business has grown because of you: my wonderful clients who trust me, recommend me, and come back to me year after year.

I have watched weddings, babies, grandchildren and now book trips for the children I once found kids’ clubs for. That is the part that makes me feel old, but also incredibly proud.

On World Entrepreneur Day, I simply want to say a huge thank you to every single one of you who has supported my business.
