We were called in to a property in Tynemouth last week to clear out a garden. It was pretty overgrown with plenty of trees and bushes to be cut down and taken away.

Northumberland County Council has introduced a 'Three Strike Rule' for Recycling Bins, meaning that if you have the wrong items in your recycling bin three times, your collection service will stop until you contact the council.

If you are a Holiday Cottage Owner, this means you will have to rely upon your guests organising the waste accordingly... which Bin Buddies know, from experience, is never going to happen!

Northumberland County Council is introducing inspections at the point of collection to clamp down on contamination within the region's recycling bins.

Last week, many residents complained that their bins were not emptied so we hope that with a bit more duty and care, more recycling can take place as intended.

If you are a Bin Buddies customer, any required check will be done by us before the council trucks arrive, to make sure your bins are emptied.

Our current coverage area from Alnmouth to Bamburgh has effectively become our live test bed for the Bin Buddies “Bin Concierge” service. In this area, we provide:

- Weekly bin management and guaranteed bin pulls

- Dedicated glass collection (critical, as there is currently no council glass service)

- Regular bin cleaning

- General site clearance and tidy-ups to maintain presentation standards

This hands-on, proactive approach has proven that waste management isn’t a back-office task — it’s a front-line contributor to guest experience and review scores.
