Kidical Mass rides are run by volunteers. To help support them nationally, an insurance scheme has been negotiated to cover us. This year it got a bit complicated, but there is now a Crowdfunder open to cover the costs. Please consider contributing, if you would like to see more Kidical Mass rides in Sheffield or elsewhere. Thank you!

Insurance for 2026-2027 will be £5280 for up to 60 Kidical Mass groups in the UK. This is for public liability and cover for our volunteers.

The Sheffield Grand Prix circuit will open to the public before racing starts to give everyone the chance to cycle the outdoor city, traffic free. Rock up & ride, scoot or wheel your way round the pro-circuit with Olympic champion and South Yorkshire’s Active Travel Commissioner, Ed Clancy OBE.

We hope everyone enjoyed the CycleSheffield Big Ride with Kidical Mass today. We think there were around 220 people including one unicycle from Manchester, two trikes from Cycling Without Age, and two visitors from Nottingham Kidical Mass who got roped in as extra marshals.

Special shout out to Maddox, my 6 year old shadow at the front (he'll make a great ride leader in a few years) and the girl in a red dress on a balance bike at the back.

Huge thanks to all the marshals, without whom it wouldn't have happened, and all of you for coming.

SAVE THE DATE!

The joint Cycle Sheffield Big Ride and Kidical Mass will be on Saturday 17th May. Meet at Devonshire Green at 1pm to set off at 1.30pm

We are looking for people to help act as marshals, and also separate first-aiders. If you can help with either of those roles, please email [email protected]
We would like to know well in advance that we will have enough marshals.
