Good news for Sheringham, train user numbers are up by an average of 10% year-on-year 😎
These loosely correlate with the broad bus figures previously quoted by Charles Sanders.
Such increases make it even more important that the road safety issues in the vicinity of Station Approach are fully addressed, without further delay.
The travel hub project does little to address these wider concerns, even with the bus shelter now gone.
NB. train figures shown are split by 4-week periods, not calendar month.
🚄The Bittern Line passenger footfall numbers have been released and are good news for Sheringham 🚄🚄🚄🚄
🆙️The figures show a year on year by month average increase for 2026 of 10% for the first half of this year.
💚This means more and more people are continuing to arrive in Sheringham by train. This is not only good for our local environment 🌎but also the local economy. 💷
Increasing footfall is good for our town, local independent businesses , employment, residents and our vibrant town centre.
🚍It would appear this is also true of buses as Charles Sanders Sanders Coaches at the last Town Council meeting reported 400,000 embarkation and disembarkation at Sheringham which has gone up from his previous quotes at town council meetings of 300,000 at Station Approach, and we havent had the main summer influx yet.
🚘🅿️I'm awaiting car park figures but judging how busy they have been I'm hopeful this will also prove positive news.
💚💚💚💚💚💚All good positive news for Sheringham. They may not be spending as much here due to the global cost of living crisis but they are still coming and in increasing numbers.
The work Greater Anglia , Visit North Norfolk and the Bittern Line Community Rail Partnership are doing promoting the line and area is contributing to both the success of the line and the local economy.
