Iran Claims Second Attack on MSC Vessel Amid Escalating Gulf Tensions
Iranian state media has reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a second vessel operated by MSC, identifying the ship as the MSC Panaya. The claimed attack comes just days after Iran said it was responsible for the strike on the MSC Sariska V, which was hit while in the vicinity of Iraq's Umm Qasr port.
According to reports, Iran says the latest attack was carried out in retaliation for a US operation that disabled a tanker bound for Iran's key oil export terminal at Kharg Island. While Iranian media has claimed responsibility, details regarding damage to the vessel and any impact on crew remain limited at this stage.
The incident marks another escalation in an already volatile security environment across the Arabian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. ARC Forwarding will continue to monitor the situation and provide further updates as more information becomes available.
