Iran Claims Second Attack on MSC Vessel Amid Escalating Gulf Tensions

Iranian state media has reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a second vessel operated by MSC, identifying the ship as the MSC Panaya. Chile has officially approved the long awaited San Antonio Outer Port expansion, a major infrastructure project expected to reshape container trade across South America. The $4.45 billion development will significantly expand the Port of San Antonio’s capacity, allowing it to handle the world’s largest container vessels and dramatically increase cargo throughput.

The project includes the construction of a nearly 4 kilometre breakwater, extensive dredging works, and two semi automated terminals capable of serving up to eight 400 metre long vessels simultaneously. Once fully operational, the port is expected to handle up to 6 million TEU annually, reinforcing Chile’s position as a key Pacific trade gateway.

Large scale investments like this continue to highlight the growing global demand for stronger port infrastructure, greater vessel capacity, and more resilient international supply chains.
