S A Moore Transport Limited, had recently been offered the opportunity to trial the New DAF Tractor range, with the support from both Rob Low of Motus Commercials and the Team at Ford & Slater making it possible to a detailed trial of the XD 11 litre 450, XF's both 450 & 480's, and the XG 480 and 530 models.
It soon became apparent that the New Range is a serious contender within the Heavy Commercial Sector.
Key points which particularly interested me were, Fuel Economy, Adblue usage, the fact that DAF have achieved a 3 Star Rating on a large XF Model and the inviting layout of the cab and comfort for the Driver. Not forgetting the Stylish modern Fresh look the New Range of DAF Trucks Deliver to the observer.
A few weeks back I had to make the regretful call to Rob Low of Motus Commercials, that I was going to be unable to attend due to ill health, the invitation to visit the DAF Factory in Leyland Lancashire.
It was with great regret as these special invitations are not freely available, the Manufacturer with the support of the Representatives to conduct these presentations takes a huge amount of effort, planning, organising and content. Those delivering the speeches and talks make the presentations exceptionally informative and interesting.
Out of the Blue so to speak, I received an email from Rob, inviting me on another visit, although this visit was extra special. It had been arranged that this visit was for just me! Not only was it just me but tailored and timed precisely that I could Experience and witness two of the three vehicles recently ordered with Rob at Motus Commercials being assembled. An emotional moment might I add, (without anyone noticing, having to swallow hard and hold back the tears of joy).
We all have interests and some of us many, but I can honestly say being there amongst the staff, the representatives in the Factory made me feel in my element, almost like I should be there and comfortable in the environment.
They are a unique opportunity to meet the very people who assemble the vehicles, get right up close in the world of engineering and the whole processes of the construction.
Might I add everyone I met or made eye contact with were very welcoming and friendly, something that needs to be influenced across our Country, in our industries and lives to make this Country a better place.
It gives me a sense of doing good to have ordered a product I like, that I'm sure our Drivers will also enjoy, a product that has been assembled in our Country, by a British workforce, with pride and satisfaction within the jobs they do.
That it somehow makes you feel proud to support, British Manufacturing, that you are giving something back to the years of support that Leyland Trucks has survived and thrived being Leyland Trucks of Lancashire a part of our British History to the present day.
From the First lorry I drove, a Leyland Buffalo as a Shunter at Benton Bros of Boston to covering many miles in Leyland DAFs over the years to owning several trucks over the past 23 Years in business, I feel Leyland DAF, this current range will be the one that takes the Company to a new level in the Heavy DAF Trucks UKSector.
I would like to take this unique moment to Thank Leyland Trucks and Paccar at Preston, Motus Commercials and Ford & Slater.
I very much appreciate what you have enabled me to experience. It will be a story for the one day Grandchildren. Xx
