Canal life has its own little set of unwritten rules.

Nothing too complicated just a bit of consideration that helps everyone enjoy the waterways.

Slow down past moored boats, say hello, share locks where it makes sense, keep things peaceful in the evening and leave your mooring tidy for the next person.

It’s all part of what makes the canal community such a lovely one to be part of.

Experienced boaters… what unwritten rule would you add to the list?

Everyone’s idea of the perfect overnight stop is different.

Some want a canalside pub within walking distance.
Some want total peace and quiet.
Some just want a cracking view to wake up to.

What’s the ONE thing that makes a mooring spot perfect for you?

Meet the Lothbury Lady

A lovely way to slow things down, switch off and enjoy the canal at your own pace.

With plenty of space to relax onboard, she’s ideal for getting away from the usual routine and spending a few days exploring the waterways, stopping off along the way and enjoying a proper change of scenery.

And when the sun’s out like this… even better.

What’s the best canalside pub you’ve ever stopped at?

We love giving our customers a few recommendations before they head off on their narrowboat holiday especially when it comes to a good pub stop along the way.

So we thought we’d ask the people who know best…Which canalside pub would you recommend?

Great food, a brilliant beer garden, a perfect mooring spot or just somewhere you always look forward to visiting.

Could you live on a narrowboat full-time? 👀

There’s only one way to find out whether narrowboat life is for you…

Spend a few days on the water and experience the slower pace, cosy evenings, waterside stops and freedom of cruising for yourself.

You might decide full-time living isn’t for you… or you might come home wondering why you ever left.

Our narrowboat holidays are the perfect way to get a taste of life on the canals.

So, could you do it full-time yes or no? 👇

When you book a narrowboat holiday and suddenly become Captain of the Lothbury Lady.

No traffic jams. No airport queues. Just you, the canal… and the occasional lock reminding you who’s really in charge.

Who’s volunteering to take the tiller? 👀

What’s your favourite time of year for cruising?

As we head towards the end of summer, the canals start to take on a slightly different feel… quieter stretches, cooler evenings and those first hints of autumn in the scenery.

But do you prefer the long, bright days of summer, the colours of autumn, crisp spring mornings… or even a peaceful winter cruise?

Tell us your favourite time of year to be out on the water and why!

Everyone has that one canal they’d happily cruise again and again… but which one do you think everyone should experience at least once?

Maybe it’s the scenery, the challenge of the locks, a favourite waterside pub, or simply the peace and quiet of being out on the water.

Tell us your must-cruise canal in the comments and let’s see which route comes out on top!

Forget Prince Charming… meet Sherborne Prince

He might not arrive on a white horse, but he will give you canal views, waterside pubs and a very good excuse to ignore your emails for a few days.

The only difficult decision? Who’s steering… and who’s in charge of finding the next pub? 🍻

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone taking their first narrowboat holiday?

Ours would be: don’t rush it.

A narrowboat holiday isn’t about getting from A to B as quickly as possible. It’s about slowing down, enjoying the scenery, stopping at waterside pubs, exploring somewhere new and making the journey part of the holiday.

Take your time, enjoy the locks, wave to other boaters and embrace the slower pace.
