Lovely day today, spent just over an hour, litter picking, watering and weeding. The garden is really filling out and the planters have mostly survived and the clematis is just starting to bloom.

Very productive meeting yesterday with Cllr David Pears, FOWGS, Clare form Horticulture at BMet Sutton Coldfield College, reviewing the previous good work carried out at the station and discussing future plans.

The bulbs were looking fantastic. Keep following for updates regarding future projects.

More helpers and volunteers are always welcome.

Many thanks to Kate Rose from Kate Rose Gardening who joined me at the station to complete some weeding and pruning in the garden. The bulbs are coming out and look lovely. Spent a further hour keeping on top of the litter and filled a couple of bags. It's just nice tp get up there without it poring down with rain.

Angie and Steve did a litter pick in and around the railway station today and removed four bags of waste!!. Mainly cans and bottles strewn across the land between the car park opposite the Station Pub and the fencing and behind the fencing adjacent to the platform.

The place looks so much better now. Also the bulbs are poking through so we should have a lovely display of daffodils come spring.

We have also applied to join the Community Rail Network and have applied for a grant from their funds. Watch this space, and get your thinking caps on for ideas on how we can improve the station environment.

One of the ideas is for large planters to be positioned along the platform that can be decorated by local community groups. These would be similar to the ones we installed against the railings near the Station Pub. It's an opportunity to brighten the area and promote local community groups and give information regarding the services they provide.

There is a meeting with Head of Allotments and Green Spaces on 24th February to discuss Sutton Coldfield entering the Britain in Bloom competition we have been asked to attend, and this will be a good opportunity to link in with similar organisations and groups and spread the word regarding the improvements made to the station.
