Rydym wedi cyhoeddi datganiad mewn ymateb i ddigwyddiadau diweddar yn Belfast, gan gadarnhau pwysigrwydd mynd i’r afael â hiliaeth, cefnogi pobl ifanc, a sicrhau eu bod yn teimlo'n ddiogel ac yn cael eu gwerthfawrogi. Rydym yn tynnu sylw at yr angen am arweinyddiaeth glir, ymrwymiad parhaus i Gymru wrth-hiliol, a rôl hanfodol mentrau fel ‘Mae Casineb yn Brifo Cymru’ wrth hyrwyddo dealltwriaeth ac undod.

We have issued a statement in response to recent events in Belfast, reaffirming the importance of tackling racism, supporting young people, and ensuring they feel safe and valued. We highlight the need for clear leadership, a continued commitment to an anti-racist Wales, and the vital role of initiatives such as ‘Hate Hurts Wales’ in promoting understanding and unity.

As Children’s Commissioner, I’m always struck by how easily babies can be overlooked in decision-making. The Big BEAR event yesterday was a brilliant space to reflect on that, with a strong focus on ensuring services across Wales are more infant-aware, connected and focused on early relationships. Professor Sam Wass’s lecture was fascinating, offering clear evidence of how early experiences shape lifelong outcomes.

Thank you to The Parent-Infant Foundation , Early Years Wales, and all partners involved, for inviting me as a guest speaker to open the event and for driving this forward.

Fel Comisiynydd Plant, rwyf o hyd yn cael fy nharo gan ba mor hawdd y gellir anghofio am fabanod wrth wneud penderfyniadau. Roedd digwyddiad Big BEAR ddoe yn gyfle gwych i fyfyrio ar hynny, gyda ffocws cryf ar sicrhau bod gwasanaethau ledled Cymru yn fwy ymwybodol o fabanod, yn gysylltiedig ac yn canolbwyntio ar berthnasoedd cynnar.

Roeddwn i’n meddwl bod darlith Dr Sam Wass yn hynod ddiddorol, gan gynnig tystiolaeth glir o sut mae profiadau cynnar yn llunio canlyniadau gydol oes.

Diolch i Parent Infant Foundation ac Early Years Wales am fy ngwahodd fel siaradwr gwadd i agor y digwyddiad.

Rydym yn croesawu datganiad ddoe gan Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Gyfiawnder Cymdeithasol a Chydraddoldeb yn nodi ei blaenoriaethau.

Mae’r ymrwymiad i gryfhau Confensiwn y Cenhedloedd Unedig ar Hawliau’r Plentyn yng nghyfraith Cymru yn gam pwysig wrth sicrhau bod hawliau plant yn cael eu gwireddu. Rydym hefyd yn croesawu’n gryf y cynlluniau i ddatblygu Strategaeth Tlodi Plant newydd sy’n canolbwyntio ar ganlyniadau hirdymor, mesuradwy - rhywbeth rydym wedi galw amdano’n gyson.

Edrychwn ymlaen at ymgysylltu ymhellach wrth i’r gwaith pwysig hwn ddatblygu.

Bwrw ymlaen â gwaith i gyflwyno cynnig gofal plant trawsnewidiol – penodi grŵp arbenigol. Cyhoeddi cyd-gadeirydd ar gyfer Cynnal – Taliad Plant Cymru - grŵp arbenigol. Cynllun uchelgeisiol a chyflawnadwy i fynd i'r afael â thlodi plant.

We welcome yesterday’s statement from the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice and Equality setting out her priorities.

The commitment to strengthen the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in Welsh law is an important step in ensuring children’s rights are fully realised. We also strongly welcome plans to develop a new Child Poverty Strategy focused on long-term, measurable outcomes - something we have consistently called for.

We look forward to engaging further as this important work develops.

Driving forward transformational childcare offer – expert group appointed. Co-chair announced for Cynnal – Welsh Child Payment – expert group. Ambitious and deliverable plan to tackle child poverty.

I had a lovely visit to Newton Primary School last Thursday, where I spoke with Year 1 pupils about my role. It’s important that even the youngest children know there are people who will listen to them and stand up for their rights.

Cefais ymweliad hyfryd ag Ysgol Gynradd Newton ddydd Iau diwethaf, lle siaradais â disgyblion Blwyddyn 1 am fy rôl. Mae’n bwysig bod hyd yn oed y plant ieuengaf yn gwybod bod ‘na bobl yno i wrando arnynt ag i eirioli eu hawliau.

Wonderful to join the Church in Wales Schools Conference as a keynote speaker. The theme of equity and excellence reflected many of the issues we hear about through our office, including racism, bullying, mental health and safeguarding. The day ended on a high note with a fantastic musical performance from pupils at All Saints Church in Wales School.

Roedd hi’n hyfryd ymuno â Chynhadledd Ysgolion yr Eglwys yng Nghymru fel siaradwr gwadd. Roedd thema cydraddoldeb a rhagoriaeth yn adlewyrchu llawer o’r materion rydyn ni’n clywed amdanyn nhw drwy ein swyddfa, gan gynnwys hiliaeth, bwlio, iechyd meddwl a diogelu. Daeth y diwrnod i ben gyda pherfformiad cerddorol gwych gan ddisgyblion Ysgol yr Eglwys yng Nghymru, yr Holl Saint.
