We have many events running throughout the season, as well as our famous Polar Express Train Ride in November and December. Telford Steam Railway is a heritage steam railway in Telford, Shropshire, UK. We are a small and dedicated group working towards our vision of returning a heritage railway to the world heritage site of Ironbridge Gorge. We currently run passenger trains over around a mile of

track, between three stations, using steam and diesel locomotives. We hold many special events throughout the season (www.telfordsteamrailway.co.uk/events), and have a model railway exhibition and Furnaces tearoom open for you to enjoy. The Phoenix Miniature Railway offers rides at our Spring Village Station for a small additional charge. It is assumed that any photos shared on our page can be used for promotional material, if this is not the case please let us know.

Our popular Cream Tea Special returns for a final departure in 2026 on Sunday 20th September !

Climb onboard our steam train for a traditional cream tea — two scones, strawberry jam, clotted cream, and fresh tea or coffee (or a glass of Prosseco for a small additional fee)— served in our comfy heritage coaches as you travel up and down our 1 mile line between three stations.

The train departs at 3:30pm from Spring Village Station, with the experience lasting around an hour.

But that's not all ... your ticket lets you ride all day at Telford Steam Railway, giving you access to all of our attractions. Travel on our unique steam tram, marvel at the model railway exhibition or explore our new railway museum, its all included with your cream tea experience.

Book Now for our Autumnal Pottery Painting Train Ride Experience !

Climb onboard our heritage steam train and paint a ceramic pumpkin with your family and friends, while travelling between our three historic stations.

Each guest will have the opportunity to paint one Ceramic Pumpkin, and also receive a complimentary drink onboard. Your ticket also lets you ride ALL DAY at the railway to experience all our attractions, such as our unique Steam Tram or the Model Railway Exhibition.

Your service will be pulled by our steam loco 'Cranford' with the pottery painting lasting approximately 1 hour, beginning at Spring Village Station at 10:50am.

Our FINAL Fish & Chip of the 2026 season departs on Saturday September 19th !

Journey onboard our heritage diesel service and enjoy crispy fish and golden chips brought to your table aboard our comfy vintage carriages. Travel between our three historic stations while enjoying your freshly cooked meal.

Departing from Spring Village at 4:30pm for a leisurely 1-hour round trip (with two or three trips along our 1-mile line).

Drinks are available onboard (separate charges apply!).

Our next batch of photos for come from Martyn Morgan, who visited the railway in 2008 - already 18 years ago!!! We are grateful to Martyn for allowing us to share his photos.

I believe this is Ruston & Hornsby Class 20DC No.222101, that was privately owned and brought to the railway in 2000. Whether it was working in 2008 I don't know (did it ever work whilst it was here?). It is not at the railway anymore. In the background we can see the first tram shed, and what looks like (at least one) water tank.

BR Class 37 No. 37263 will pull its last planned passenger services of the 2026 season this Sunday !

Trains run from 11:00 am to 15:30 pm, with our narrow gauge Steam Tram 'Thomas Telford' also in operation. Pay Once and Ride All Day, to experience all the attractions we have to offer.

Tickets : £10 Adults, £7 Children & £28 Family

After 15:00, you can purchase our Saver ticket to travel on the last train of the day for just £2.50 Adults, £2,00 Children or £7.00 Family !

As its the first day of Autumn ... we're pleased to announce booking is OPEN for our Autumnal Pottery Painting Train Ride Experience !

Join us for the opportunity to get crafty and paint your own Ceramic Pumpkin which will be taken away and glazed, being returned before Halloween!

Each guest will have the opportunity to paint one Ceramic Pumpkin, and also receive a complimentary drink onboard, whether that be a cheeky Bucks-Fizz, or a nice warm cuppa. Your ticket also lets you ride ALL DAY at the railway to experience all our attractions.

The Land Rovers have begun to arrive for our Series 1 Rally TODAY at Telford Steam Railway.

We are expecting between 30-40 vehicles to attend, all included with your ticket !

The Brick Building Experience arrives TOMORROW at Telford Steam Railway, along with the Land Rover Series 1 Rally !

Climb aboard our steam train and get creative with our brick building experience. You'll journey along our historic line, while building your unique creations onboard the coach.

Departing at either 11:00 or 12:00, you'll have the entire journey (Approximately 50 minutes) to unleash your imagination. On your table will be fantastic brick building equipment, letting you sit back, enjoy the ride and get creative. Once we return to Spring Village Station, take a photo with your fabulous creations before disembarking to experience our other fantastic attractions.

Your ticket unlocks a whole day of railway adventures, with access to all our attractions. Once you've traveled on the standard gauge railway, ride the unique Telford Steam Tram or marvel at our model railway exhibition. Pay once and ride ALL DAY, to experience all the railway has to offer.

But that's not all ... Monday 31st will also host the Land Rover Series 1 Display which is included in your ticket, with over 30 vehicles scheduled to attend !
