Fylde SME

The Fylde Society of Model Engineers has existed for over 70 years and still operates today as an interest for like minded model engineers. The Society track is on St Georges playing fields behind Marsh Mill, Thornton Cleveleys; where miniature passenger trains run on Sunday afternoons throughout the year (weather permitting). activities connected to model engineering. These include visits to other societies and exhibitions in the UK, as well as participating in local exhibitions where our models are displayed and explained to the public. New members are always welcome and enquiries can be made at the track site, our Contact Us page or at exhibitions where FyldeSME members are present. There are three track gauges at Marsh Mill, 2.5”, 3.5” and 5”. Members run a wide variety of live steam and electric locos mostly built or owned by themselves. Facilities for pressure testing privately owned boilers and steam injectors are available within the Society. Members' interests are not confined to miniature railway locomotives, but steam traction engines, Victorian stationary engines, clocks and many other hand made models have been, or are being constructed.
