Further freight disruption is expected across Northern Europe as industrial action affects several major ports and transport routes⚠️

A 48-hour strike is currently restricting operations at six German seaports, including Hamburg, Bremen, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven.

Port workers in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Zeeland are also due to stop handling ships between 11:15 and 19:00 today, followed by a 24-hour Dutch rail strike planned for 9 September.

With low water levels continuing to restrict capacity on parts of the Rhine, the overlapping disruption could lead to vessel delays, terminal congestion and problems moving containers inland by rail and barge.

Customers with cargo moving through Germany or the Netherlands should allow additional time and prepare for possible changes to vessel schedules, terminal appointments and onward transport.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update affected customers.

Repeated typhoon disruption is putting further pressure on two of China's biggest container ports🚢

Following a succession of storms across China's east coast throughout July and August, congestion at Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan continues to build.

Latest operational updates show vessel waiting times at Shanghai's Yangshan terminals reaching up to 11 days, while Ningbo is also experiencing significant delays following further terminal suspensions caused by Typhoon Saudel.

And the impact may not end when the ports reopen. Repeated closures can create vessel bunching, schedule changes and ongoing congestion as carriers work to recover their networks.

For importers, this could mean longer transit times, less predictable schedules and potential cost implications in the weeks ahead.

With China's September and October holiday period also approaching, planning ahead will be particularly important.

We'll continue to monitor the situation and keep our customers updated.

One week until we step inside one of cricket's most iconic rooms...🏏

Lord's has been at the heart of cricket for more than 200 years, and its famous Long Room has witnessed generations of players make their way from the dressing rooms out onto the pitch.

Next Tuesday, it will be the setting for the Synonymous Sport Lord's Long Room Lunch, with Beckchoice proud to be this year's Headline Sponsor.

Hosted by Graham Gooch, with Lord Ian Botham joining as a special guest, the day will bring together great company, fantastic food, plenty of cricketing history and, most importantly, support for Help For Heroes.

We're really looking forward to welcoming our guests to such a special setting. The countdown is officially on!

Dutch port strike planned for September 4th🇳🇱

Businesses moving goods through the Netherlands should prepare for potential disruption on Friday, with industrial action planned across Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Zeeland.

Port workers have been called to stop ship-handling activities between 11:15 and 19:00 local time, which could lead to delays to vessel operations, cargo handling and onward transport.

While the exact level of disruption will depend on individual ports and terminals, delays could continue beyond the strike period as operations recover.

If you have time-sensitive cargo moving through the Netherlands on or around 4 September, we recommend allowing additional lead time where possible.

We'll continue to monitor the situation and update affected customers. Read the full update on our website👉 www.beckchoice.co.uk/news/dutch-port-strike-planned-for-4-september-rotterdam-amsterdam-and-zeeland

Significant delays are being reported at DP World London Gateway today, with long queues affecting hauliers accessing the terminal🚛

Industry reports suggest a possible power-related outage, although the exact cause of the disruption has not yet been officially confirmed by DP World.

The delays will likely have a knock-on impact on container collections and deliveries, so businesses with cargo moving through London Gateway should be prepared for possible schedule changes.

We’re continuing to monitor the situation and will keep our customers updated on affected shipments.

Typhoon Saudel threatens freight operations across Taiwan and East China⚠️

Typhoon Saudel is approaching the region, bringing the risk of strong winds, heavy rainfall and dangerous sea conditions.

The storm is currently expected to pass north of Taiwan later this week before moving towards China's Fujian coast, where landfall is forecast between late Thursday and early Friday.

For freight movements, severe weather could result in:
🔹Vessel delays and schedule changes
🔹Port and terminal restrictions
🔹Disruption to container collections and deliveries
🔹Trucking delays due to flooding
🔹Knock-on delays as operations recover

This comes as parts of southern China are already experiencing significant flooding following Typhoon Narra, adding further pressure to transport and supply chains across the region.

At present, we have not seen confirmation of widespread closures at major container ports potentially affected by Saudel, but conditions can change quickly.

Our team is continuing to monitor the situation closely and will keep customers informed of any developments affecting their shipments.
