The historic King Harry Ferry has connected travellers across King Harry's Reach for over 500 years since it was established by charter. Our current vessel is the 7th to provide vehicle service since 1888. This crossing forms part of the ancient Pilgrim's Way to St Michael's Mount and takes its name from King Henry VI, the Lancastrian monarch. In Cornish, this passage was called 'Kybyllys,' meaning ferryboat. Today, visitors and locals alike continue to use the ferry as a scenic gateway to explore and discover the beautiful Roseland Peninsula, with its stunning coastlines, charming villages, and hidden beaches. Ever wondered what makes this Cornish chain ferry so special? Here's a few facts to impress your fellow passengers on your next crossing...

⛴ It's been running since 1888, that's well over 130 years of criss-crossing the Fal!
⛴ It's one of only five chain ferries left in England
⛴ The current ferry, No.7, was built in 2006 and can carry up to 34 cars
⛴ Taking the ferry saves drivers a 27-mile round trip via Truro
⛴ Each year, the ferry carries over 300,000 cars saving many road miles and reducing carbon emissions
⛴ The ferry weighs an incredible 350 tonnes
⛴ The ferries chains have to be incredibly strong and tough and are 270m long

Next time you're on board, you're not just crossing the river, you're part of over a century of history 🌊
