(493)

The Bluebell Line was the UK's first preserved standard gauge passenger railway, re-opening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton & South Coast Railway in 1960. Since then it has developed into one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sussex, yet it still remains true to its objectives of the preservation for posterity of a country branch line, its steam locomot

ives, coaches and goods stock, signalling systems, stations and operating practices. Today the heritage railway runs passenger services throughout the year, including special events and dining trains. Please visit our website for timetables and service information.

๐Ÿพ A Special Visit from Henry and Bertie ๐Ÿพ

Despite the less-than-kind weather, it was a pleasure to welcome two very special visitors to the Bluebell Railway Museum this week.

Henry and Bertie, from the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, joined us at Sheffield Park to mark the opening of our brand-new exhibition exploring the history of Woking Homes and the link with railway collection dogs.

Visitors enjoyed meeting the fundraising duo, learning more about the important work of Woking Homes, and exploring the fascinating new display, which combines material from both Woking Homes and the Bluebell Railway Archive.

A huge thank you to Henry, Bertie, their owner John, and everyone who helped make the visit such a success. Even the rain couldn't dampen spirits, and we're delighted that so many people came along to support the day.

We hope to welcome Henry and Bertie back to the Bluebell Railway again soon!

Spitfire Flying Display Confirmed for Southern at War!

We're delighted to announce that, thanks to the fantastic support of the Spitfire Academy at Goodwood, a Spitfire flypast display has been confirmed for Southern at War on 18th & 19th July at Horsted Keynes Station.

The display is currently scheduled to take place between 12:30pm and 12:40pm on both days, providing a fitting tribute to the event's wartime theme and a spectacular sight above one of Britain's most atmospheric heritage railway stations.

Combined with steam trains, military vehicles, living history displays, re-enactors, and the unique wartime atmosphere of Horsted Keynes, the addition of a Spitfire promises to make this year's event one not to miss.

Please note that the display is subject to aircraft availability and favourable weather conditions.

๐Ÿš‚ A New Exhibition and a Very Special Visitor at the Bluebell Railway Museum ๐Ÿถ

Join us on Wednesday, 3rd June, at Sheffield Park Station as we unveil a brand-new exhibition exploring the fascinating history of Woking Homes.

This special display brings together unique artefacts and archive material from both Woking Homes and the Bluebell Railway Archive, helping tell the story of an important part of railway heritage and social history.

To celebrate the opening day, we are delighted to welcome a very special guest โ€” Henry the Collecting Dog.

Many railway enthusiasts will already know Henry from the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway, where he has become famous for his fundraising work supporting both Woody Bay and Woking Homes. During the day, Sarah Kemp, Chief Executive of Woking Homes, will officially present Henry with his remarkable ยฃ5,000 Collection Medal in recognition of his fundraising achievements.

Henry will be travelling on the first train of the day alongside his owner, John and will later appear at the museum on Platform 2 for the presentation ceremony. Heโ€™ll also be joined by Bertie, the young pup currently learning the ropes as Henryโ€™s future fundraising successor.

Visitors are invited to come along, meet Henry and Bertie, explore the new exhibition, and enjoy a wonderful day celebrating railway history and heritage.
