G.Burgess & Son Ltd G. Burgess & Son Ltd is a Kent based haulage contractor established in 1923. It is FORS Gold. Burgess & Son Ltd is a haulage contractor based in Westerham Kent.

It was established in 1923. Initially the main work was the delivery and sand and ballast from the local quarries, especially Kent Sand and Ballast whose quarry in Sevenoaks on Bradbourne Vale Road is now the Sevenoaks nature reserve. As the local quarry work declined in the late 1950's the business converted one of it's tippers into a tractor unit and moved into general haulage. The mainstay of t

he business however, was the delivery of Concrete roof tiles mainly from Marley Tiles in Riverhead, but also from Redland Roof tiles at Moorhouse near Westerham. As the business expanded in the early 1960's one vehicle was used for the delivery of fruit from Dover docks to various wholesale markets. With the advent of Ro Ro ferries to Europe the business started to provide traction for unaccompanied French Tilt trailers initially from Dover and then from Newhaven, Shoreham and Portsmouth Ports. The Company now provides traction for third party semi trailers. It specialises in flat trailers and particularly loads that are out of gauge. It also specialises in multi temperature refrigerated traction to retail stores. The Company is a member of The Road Haulage Association and has obtained FORS Silver accreditation. All work is undertaken under RHA 2020 conditions of carriage or CMR if applicable.

This has just made my day. Telephone the customer when empty at the first drop to ask the latest I can arrive to off load their timber. Got told no problem we shut at 1700. Arrived at 1615 to find they went at 1600 as it’s too hot😩😩😩😭
