A lovely email from clients who’ve just returned from a family trip to Carcassonne, staying at Hôtel du Château & Spa Gemology 🇫🇷

They told me the accommodation was perfect — fantastic rooms right by the pool, all rooms together as requested, and terraces at the front. And they absolutely loved Carcassonne itself. 🥰

I think I’ve accidentally started a new holiday tradition… 🍷✈️

After visiting Cinque Terre last year and falling in love with the local wine, I started buying a bottle of local wine at the airport to bring home with me.

And I’ve decided it’s now officially my thing. 😂

This time it was Alicante 🇪🇸☀️

There’s something lovely about opening it at home a few weeks (or days!!) later, when the holiday blues have kicked in, and being instantly reminded of sunny days, lovely food and a very happy holiday. ❤️

A little taste of your travels to save for later.

☀️ LAST DAY IN ALICANTE… SO WHAT DID I THINK OF MY HOTEL? 🇪🇸

Well… Alicante itself is BUSY! 😂 I’m not entirely convinced the city is quite for me, but my hotel?

Absolutely loved it. ❤️

I’ve spent 3 nights at the gorgeous INNSiDE by Meliá Alicante Porta Maris, staying Half Board in a sea-view room – and for me, it’s been worth every penny.

The location is pretty special. Right on the water, with the most incredible uninterrupted sea views, yet you can sit by the pool and watch all the hustle and bustle of Alicante and the beaches in the distance. Perfect for someone who likes to be near everything… but also likes to retreat from it! 🙋🏼‍♀️😂

My room was HUGE, modern and spotless, with a massive bed, balcony, complimentary soft drinks in the minibar and that view. 🌊

Breakfast has been INCREDIBLE – honestly, if you can’t find something you like here, there may be no hope for you 😂 – and the pool terraces have been my favourite place to spend the day. No fighting for sunbeds, chilled music, entertainment and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below. ❤️

There’s also a second pool and bar that’s easy to miss – definitely worth finding for the views, extra sunshine and a cheeky drink! 🍹

I’d personally recommend this one more for couples, friends or solo travellers than families. It has a lovely grown-up, chilled feel and would be perfect for a few nights of sunshine mixed with exploring Alicante.

Would I recommend it? 100%.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely.

Sometimes the hotel really does make the trip.

✈️🥂 AIRPORT FOOD & DRINK… WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE?! 😂

Does anyone else get to the airport and feel like they’ve spent half their holiday budget before they’ve even got on the plane?! 🙈

Food, coffee, a glass of wine (or two 👀)… those airport prices can be HEFTY and it’s always been a big bugbear of mine!

Which is exactly why I’m currently sat very happily in the Escape Lounge at Bristol Airport 🥂✈️

If you’re planning on having something to eat and a couple of drinks before your flight anyway, honestly — look at booking a lounge!

I think there’s a big misconception that airport lounges are really expensive, when actually, if you book early, you might be very surprised at how competitive they can be compared with buying everything separately in the terminal.

Plus… comfy seat, food, drinks and a much more relaxing start to your holiday? I’m sold! 🙌

And a little reminder that I don’t just book holidays…
