I do have a reserve list which i will start running down if people don't get back to me and confirm.bookings in the next week or so.

Hi guys,

Heres a good news story!
Im delighted to announce we have been lucky enough to secure a permit for the 2026 Tunny fishery here at Whitby.

Im currently in Glasgow but will be in touch with everyone regarding final deposits in the next day or so.

Ive been quiet as im currently in the process of a mini refit on the boat, making a few mods for the tuna fishery.
We have a fighting chair this year, due to the size of the fish, you die hards can still fight them stand up if you like though!

I look forward to welcoming you aboard this year, in The Land Of The Giants!

We've managed 2 days at sea this week,

Wednesday was a bit blustery and the wind kept us tied to a few marks, we couldn't get to others because of the conditions. We gave it a good go though and managed fish everywhere we went, there appears to be loads of undersize codlings on the ground this year, so there was a lot of throwbacks, we managed maybe 8-10 keepers above 45cm for the day.

Thursday with much better conditions and my birthday too! We were treated with virtually no breeze all day, regulars Milnrow angling club were aboard and they treated me to cake, which we shared!
We managed to work some of my favourite big tide marks, again loads of throwbacks, millions of bait robbing poutings, plus a mixture of po***ck, dogfish, wrasse and haddocks too.

The fishing was much better with everyone getting a few to take home.
Baits were a mixture of dirty squid, blacks and cart.

Another Land Of The Giants spreader bar ready to rock n roll!.

My bits arrived from leadertec this week, but I've been over busy with my other job, so I finished nights this morning. Singing kettle for a breakfast and home, straight into my bait room to put this 30cm sparkly pink squid number together.

4mm stainless steel bar, PBA direction 9" bird, 500lb AFW centre line with all metal on metal joins. Flanks are 250lb. Flanks on heavy duty split rings so we can change them out if we need to.

I just know, coupled to one of those premium stingers from Tuna Gear, this bar will be doing the business for us very soon!

Popped out with a few of my good fishing pals Ben Laws, Matthew Garbutt, Ged Paterson and Alan Ward this morning, with a view to hooking them up with another northern giant Bluefin.

I was buzzing to try a new bar that Andy from Tuna Gear had sent me after I lost one recently, I'd also made a couple of stingers up last night that he'd also sent me in my surprise box.

Got the heads up off Dan off Alexia that they were mid fight a good way offshore so headed out that way.

We saw plenty of life out there but it seemed to take an age to hook up, eventually everything fell into place and I watched in absolute awe as we got a rise and smash from one of our Giants. Hitting the new bar and stinger! Ha result!

Matt and Ben fought the fish hard and we got it along side in a spritely 70 minutes. I couldn't believe the shear size and girth of it as I leadered it and we got the lip grip on.
After 10 minutes of towing I could see it trying to swim in different directions so pulled it alongside to measure.

This was a big heavy fish and measured in at a colossal 123" on our boatside rule. Needless to say all of us onboard were absolutely over the moon. It swam away strong when released. These fish just seem to be getting bigger!

We were back in and tied up by lunch time. What a great morning.
