John Whitaker returns to the Al Shira'aa Bolesworth International 2026.

Having secured victory in the inaugural Bolesworth International Grand Prix in 2008, John remains an integral part of the event's rich sporting heritage. Over the years, it has been a privilege to welcome him back to Bolesworth, and we are delighted to do so once again this summer.

We are looking for some yard cover for September and October because our incredible yard manager is having a baby and even she (wonder woman) can’t juggle actually giving birth and the horses here!

We ideally need someone with a decent level of experience to come in and help manage the yard while we are away at competitions in these two busy months.

Ideally 4 days a week.

Can be local or we have accommodation if easier to stay.

90 mph 🙈😳

🚨 90mph in an HGV?! 🚨😲

Officers from Northamptonshire's Serious Collision Investigation Unit recently reflected on a roadside stop that left even experienced traffic officers speechless... 👮‍♂️🚔

During a joint enforcement operation, a wagon driver initially ignored instructions to stop for DVSA officers. What the driver didn't realise was that two Roads Policing vehicles were only moments away. 🚓💨

A quick change of heart followed, and the vehicle was escorted to the inspection site. 🚛➡️🚔

Once officers from the Roads Policing and Road Crime Teams began their checks, the reasons for avoiding the stop soon became apparent:

❌ Defective speed limiter
❌ Worn tyres
❌ Faulty brakes
❌ Minimal tachograph records

But the most alarming discovery was yet to come... 😳

📈 Tachograph data showed the wagon had previously reached an astonishing 90mph.

For a heavy goods vehicle, that's a terrifying speed and a serious danger to everyone on the road. ⚠️

The vehicle was immediately prohibited and reported. 🚫📋

This stop serves as a stark reminder that vehicle safety checks save lives, and serious defects can have potentially catastrophic consequences. 🚔🛑

🚨 Teenage lorry driver Carly Sommerville (pictured) killed father-of-three Viorel Ciucu (inset) in horror road crash weeks after passing her test has been spared jail.
Sommerville was at the wheel of a Volvo HGV when she collided with a van driven by Mr Ciucu, 50, on the A725 near Shawhead, Lanarkshire.
Mr Ciucu was pronounced dead at the scene by medics in July 2024 after suffering 'catastrophic' injuries 🖤
Sommerville, of Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted causing death by careless driving.
The charge said she failed to maintain proper observations, failed to adhere to traffic signals and crossed into the opposing carriageway before striking the van.
Members of the public rushed to help and Sommerville, then aged 18, later told police: "I was driving very slowly and then started to turn onto the A8. I saw him coming down and he crashed into my vehicle."
Depute fiscal Paula Wedlock said: "Collision experts attended and asked the accused who was driving and she replied 'me, Carly Sommerville'."
Gavin Anderson KC, defending, said: "It is clear from the report that Miss Sommerville accepts her role in this accident. It occurred due to her driving falling below that of being a competent and careful driver and she misinterpreted traffic signals as she made a right-hand turn and for that error of judgment she is truly sorry.
"I offer her true, unequivocal and sincere apologies and she expresses her sympathy to the family of Mr Ciucu."
Sheriff John Speir tagged Sommerville for six months as a direct alternative to prison and banned her from driving for four years 🚫
