Ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Our Goods Train Footplate Experience is calling and it's going to be brilliant.
Picture this: Friday 19th June, 8:30 AM. You arrive early for a proper cooked breakfast, get the safety rundown, and then it's time. You're actually driving a heritage steam locomotive hauling a goods train across beautiful Cotswold countryside, from Broadway through Toddington to Cheltenham and back. The cab's warm, the engine's rumbling under your hands, and you're in control.
This isn't just sitting back and watching. You'll fire and drive the locomotive (up to 14 miles worth), with expert supervision keeping you safe. Between your stints on the footplate, you can hop in the brake van and experience it from the guard's perspective. Plus there's a signal box tour, a steam shed tour, and lunch to refuel.
And here's the best bit: you'll walk away with a year's free membership to the GWSR (that includes a whole day of free travel), a commemorative certificate signed by your crew, and honestly, a memory you'll be talking about forever.
Perfect as a gift for Christmas, a birthday, or an anniversary. Want to bring someone special along? You can bring up to two guests (aged 16+) for £35 each. They ride all day, get breakfast and lunch, and get to soak in the whole experience with you.

Fair warning: it's authentic. Overalls recommended, and yes, you'll get dirty. That's part of the charm. You need a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to climb in and out of the footplate, but if you can do that, you're good to go.
