The Windsor Link has been contributing to the examination of the RBWM Borough Local Plan. The examiner is currently considering whether the plan is 'sound' in a legal sense and hearings are underway. The Windsor Link has been keen to encourage the council to take a masterplan-led approach to Windsor, as it has done for Maidenhead and Ascot. Windsor Express… [ 128 more words ]

The Windsor Link has been featured in Conservative Home Nationalisation should be a stepping stone to a better private rail network — John Major’s efforts in the Nineties, part-reversed by Blair, seem almost designed to give the market a bad name. There is an alternative. Read article [ 35 more words ]

The Telegraph has featured the Windsor Link. Under Mr Grayling, the DfT invited engineers to submit privately funded solutions to upgrade the railways in 2018. The so-called “market-led proposals” encouraged many in the City, with infrastructure investors eager to put millions of pounds to work. However, the programme was quietly mothballed as ministers grappled with a string of problems on the railways. [ 160 more words ]

A new body called, Transport for the South East has launched a consultation on improving transport across the region. Their consultation event last Saturday at Gatwick included a wide range of consultees from bus network advocates to Friends of the Earth and Vision Zero (for zero deaths on the roads). Windsor Link's initial view is that the strategy is long on aspiration and short on specifics. [ 136 more words ]

Friends of the Earth say the that Department for Transport is *increasing* carbon emissions at a time when we're all trying to reduce them. Whilst one solution is to 'constrain' road and air transport, Windsor Link thinks that a much better solution is for people to have better choices. The Windsor Link makes it easier for people to get to work, whilst reducing emissions on one of the most congested transport corridors in the UK, the M25 near Heathrow. Help us help the environment and make your life easier too!

Analysis shows Department for Transport plans will cause UK to breach carbon budgets; radical new plan needed to cut aviation and road transport carbon by 2030

Are politicians out-of-touch with public opinion? The Windsor Link is an example of a project with strong public support, with independent surveys consistently in favour - see https://windsorlink.co.uk/tag/consultations/
It makes Windsor more beautiful. It also saves national taxpayers' money which leads to lower fares while helping people to get to work more quickly and easily in one of the most congested and polluted areas of the country.

The Windsor Link will help to save our environment. It's a new railway parallel to the most congested section of the most congested motorway in the UK, the M25 between the M3 and M4. Better still it does this at no net cost to the taxpayer over its lifetime because it's only a 300 metre gap between two existing but under-utilised lines to Windsor. We're making travel easier and more environmentally friendly whilst enabling fares to get cheaper.

Imagine having an extra month per year - that's how much time the Windsor Link will give you if you commute around the Thames Valley. It saves the environment too, taking pollution off some of the most congested roads in the country. It's fairer as well, ensuring costs aren't nationalised while profits are privatised. It's a more sustainable way of building a better future and through similar schemes across the country we want to bring these benefits to everyone.

Have you ever had trouble finding a parking space in Windsor? We could copy Hyde Park or Palma and put the spaces underground, improving the beauty of the riverside whilst providing up to 1,600 new spaces.

The first picture above shows the Cathedral in Palma, Majorca. What’s interesting from a WLR perspective are the other pictures which show the car park that serves it. Locally planners have c…
