04:30 start for a run down to Heathrow with a special young lady heading away with family to celebrate turning 21.

It's a bit fresh out there this morning so take care on the roads if you're traveling anywhere. The temperature gauge dropped down to -6°C at the lowest on the journey, which is quite cold by normal standards but I guess it is relatively mild compared to the -32°C I was unlucky enough to find myself in at around this time of year many moons ago when I was approaching 21, which makes me feel both old and cold. 🤣

Final airport run of the year delivered overnight, taking local Rock n Roll Superstar Cody and his excited family down to Heathrow to jet off to Australia for the holiday of a lifetime.

I'm signing off now and taking just my 2nd New Year's Eve off work since 2001. I'll be back to it on the 2nd January so I'd just like to take this opportunity to wish all my regular clients, valued customers old and new and all my friends and family a very Happy, Successful and Holiday filled 2026.

Straight back to it after a few days off with a Monday morning run up to Birmingham International with a lovely young Family heading home to Dubai after a Christmas break visiting family in the UK.

Just 3 Airport Jobs left to do this year, then it's straight into January and the start of another busy year of safe reliable airport and event travel with Sub's Taxis Witney.

On the road at 03:15 down to Luton Airport for a drop off, then back to Heathrow to pick up a special friend who's come home from Hong Kong to surprise her family for Christmas. No doubt Jenny Lam will be making a guest appearance working in The Water Margin before Christmas Eve so pop in and see her for a delicious Chinese takeaway.
Just one more Heathrow pick up this evening then I'm off til the 29th to enjoy the Festivities.

Cobham services we meet again, twice in one day for food dates, people will be talking. Greggs for Breakfast, KFC for tea, living the junk food dream today.

Typically my next flight into Gatwick is delayed by an hour, not surprising as the weather is horrendous down here and the M25 is chaos.
Why can't people drive with a bit of common sense when it's pouring down and there's surface water and spray everywhere? Baffles me.

Early start for a Gatwick pick up with a breakfast stop at Cobham services making a change from Beaconsfield.

I don't supply children's car seats as I would need to hold many different sizes in all the different configurations they could be needed, it also isn't a legal requirement in Taxis. However I am happy to pick up, drop off or hold on to your car seats while you're away if you wish to use them and fit them in the taxi yourself. Your safety and peace of mind is paramount.

Could this be the future for Sub's Taxis Witney 🤣

Not getting stuck in traffic and dodging potholes would be a bonus I must admit.

I wonder where I could do a Flying Taxi Pilot's Course and get in early ahead of the rush.

My guess is it probably won't happen for most cos I'm still waiting for the hover boards they promised us in Back to the Future back in the 80's.

What's your thoughts?

Saw this post earlier on Spotted Witney Official and having to head to Bicester in the dark for a job chose to use the other A40 slip road at High Cogges not knowing the precise location of the tyre shredding pothole and not wanting to risk ending up off the road tonight and tomorrow hitting my pocket and causing me to have to cancel bookings.

On my way back I saw maybe 5 or 6 stranded vehicles on the side of the A40 between the slip road and where the A40 goes to single carriageway and a couple of recovery trucks. I think there had possibly been a minor accident involving a couple of vehicles as some appeared to have cosmetic damage to the front or rear bumpers.
If a pothole on a slip road is so bad it is causing vehicles to be damaged and wrecking tyres leaving people needing to be recovered, why not just close the slip road? The police could surely cone it off for safety reasons and to prevent further accident damage.

Am I overthinking things or do I make a valid, sensible point? Discuss.

Another day, another 05:00 alarm and another Beaconsfield Services Breakfast en route to Heathrow. It's a fresh one out there this morning so make sure you defrost your vehicles properly and take care on the roads.

Times like this call for a Greggs Bacon and Sausage Baguette to fill my belly with warmth.

05:00 alarm for an early pick up from Heathrow this morning so that means a cheeky breakfast stop at Beaconsfield Services while waiting for the flight to land. Bring on the M25 as it hits peak time.
