NSE 30 GALA EVENT 13 & 14 AUGUST

The Network SouthEast Railway society is delighted to reveal details of their NSE 30 Gala event at Finmere railway Station Oxfordshire 13 & 14 August 2016.
The event in conjunction with site owners COVES (Coulsdon Old Vehicle & Engineering Society) will see their unique phase one 4 CIG 1753 in traffic together with class 73 130. The weekend will also see the grand opening of the Society’s new museum by Chris Green on the Saturday together with a historic vehicle display and heritage bus trips plus other surprises over the weekend.

The Society will have Finmere station decked out in full NSE gala style with NSE seats, litter bins, working “clicker” clock, solari departure board and lots of NSE bunting! Plus of course an NSE goodie back for every visitor!!
Refreshments will be available from the NSERS Travellers-Fare department in BIG Buffet 69339 over the weekend, real cider & ale will be served from the NSE bar in 1753’s guards brake. The society will have regular & special (limited edition) merchandise on sale from their stall.

The Event is a pre book event as the site is privately owned and limited to 150 a day at £10 per person and £5 for under 16’s.

Today we completed the first of the interior projects on the VEP. In total, 12 side boards were replaced with fresh ply boards painted blue. Only 3 of the original boards were in perfect condition and did not need to be replaced. We intend to recreate the original style boards with the correct fabric as soon as possible.

Part of today's work was working on the 'Simulator Project'. The idea is to build a driving simulator in the cab of 3568. We achieved the milestone of getting a Raspberry Pi to recognize what position the power handle is in. The position is shown by the scrolling numbers in the black box on screen.

Our first work day of 2016 and our progress can easily be seen in the standard class open area. These blue panels are a temporary solution, but we're pleased they look the part.

Another Sunday work day today, most noticable progress being this first class headrest. Thanks to all who helped

We had a very productive work day today. The main task was to organise the storage compartment, thus revealing our only standard comparment for an hour or two. Some of the seats have been replaced with better condition ones from our spares, and a scrached mirror has been swapped with non scratched one.
