It was a pleasure to welcome Selly Oak MP and Minister for Veterans Alistair Carns to the Aston branch of our Transport, Rail and Infrastructure Academy.

The TRIA network is a partnership with City of Wolverhampton College and West Midlands Combined Authority and in the last year has put more than 3,000 people on the path to careers in rail, construction and civils.

It was great to showcase the work we are doing to train people from his constituency and across Birmingham and the West Midlands at our state of the art facility in Aston.

As Vererans Minister it was also important to showcase how the Armed Forces is in the DNA of the business. Our CEO and founder Davie Carns served ten years in the Royal Marines, six of our senior leadership team are ex-Forces and five percent of our candidates have served in the military.

The awards recognise the dedicated professionals working behind the scenes in further education and employability and putting the spotlight on the role quality professionals play in driving continuous improvement.

Although not quite taking the top prizes, it was an honour to be recognised and stand with others whose work is helping to shape a better, more equitable future.

NIS Group is proud to announce it has agreed to be the first ever Cornerstone Patron of following a transformative £100,000 investment into supporting young people across Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas.
Part of the donation will launch a powerful new employability programme: Way2Work - Building Futures Together, a long-term partnership between the two organisations to empower local young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to shape their own futures and gain meaningful employment.
This bold commitment will deliver accessible support to individuals and families, with activities including confidence-building and teamwork sessions for children, employability skills development and career exploration for teenagers.
There will also be dedicated family and SEND guidance through joint workshops and mentoring opportunities, whilst the programme is aiming to extend its reach into the wider community through outreach youth work and targeted employability activities.
