With next year set to be a memorable one for European travel, we've been looking ahead and identifying some of the destinations we think are well worth having on your radar:

Earlier this year, Charlotte and Lucy from our marketing team were lucky enough to visit the incredible Ylläshumina Hotel in Finnish Lapland and experience some of the region's most memorable winter activities.

Here's what Charlotte had to say about the trip:

"I'm usually drawn to sunny summer holidays by the coast, so this was a completely new experience for me, and I was absolutely blown away. The landscapes were unlike anything I'd ever seen before: vast, snow-covered and incredibly peaceful.

My personal highlight was a guided snowshoe walk at sunset. As darkness fell, the sky filled with countless stars, and everything was perfectly still. There was no sound except the crunch of our snowshoes on the snow. It was just us and nature.

Then, as we returned to the hotel, the Northern Lights appeared overhead. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable evening, and a moment I'll never forget." ✨❄️

Have you ever been winter walking in Finnish Lapland? Forget the Lapland you might first imagine. This is the real Lapland, where peace, tranquillity, and vast snowy landscapes take centre stage.

From Ylläs, 106 kilometres of winter walking trails weave through frozen forests and across snow-covered fells, creating a landscape that feels like another world. Every step is accompanied by silence and breathtaking views.

And when it's time to warm up, traditional kota huts offer the perfect refuge, serving hot berry juice and cinnamon rolls along the way.

Recently, Inntravel staff members Katharine and Becky headed to the breathtaking Bavarian Alps to re-walk our routes, review customer notes and ensure every detail is up to date for future travellers.

Along the way, Katharine discovered plenty to love about Bavaria. Her favourite walks were the two most challenging: Blaueishütte and Grünstein. The climbs were demanding, but the reward was worth every step, with incredible mountain views waiting at the top.

Another highlight was Bavaria's mountain Hütten. Nestled in secluded spots along the trails, these welcoming mountain huts provided the perfect place to pause for refreshments and hearty German meals while soaking up the alpine scenery.

One particularly memorable day began with a boat trip across Lake Königssee. As the boat approached the famous Echo Wall beneath the Watzmann massif, a crew member played a trumpet towards the cliffs, and the mountains echoed the tune perfectly back across the water.
