This coming Sunday, 2nd August, it's the York 10K road running race event! Be warned there will be some road closures. The Park and Ride buses and train will be your best option of getting into the City of York and to Knavesmire. Some of us will be able to cycle or walk.

It's a great spectator event!

🛑Imagine destroying Bootham Bar for traffic... 😳🚗
Every time I walk past the pink picnic tables in Exhibition Square, I have to laugh at what almost happened here.
🏚️Back in the 1800s, the city council seriously considered demolishing chunks of our medieval walls and Bootham Bar just to make room for modern traffic. 🤦‍♀️
Thankfully, a passionate group of local campaigners basically said "absolutely not" and fought to protect them. The bloke on the pedestal in the video—Victorian artist William Etty—was just one of the loudest voices leading that charge.
Together, they saved the incredible historic landscape we’re all looking at today.
🍦So next time you're sitting by the fountain or grabbing an ice cream—raise a scoop to the locals who saved the backdrop for your weekend photos 📸
Drop a ❤️ if you're glad they didn't tear the walls down!

❤️No moment is ordinary in beautiful York... ✨
✋🏼Stop! Take a pause and feel the rhythm of the city 🥁
Press play, turn your sound up, and lose yourself in a classic York afternoon in St Helen’s Square. 🔔From the gentle chime of the church bells echoing through the cobbled streets, to the simple joy of people milling about or deliberating over the menu board outside 🍽️The Ivy— indeed every single second feels special here ⏱️
It’s a reminder that you don't always need a grand plan in York. Sometimes, the best itinerary is just watching the world go by ❤️
Have you ever been to York? Is St. Helen's Square your meeting point? What is the first thing you'd want to do when you get here? Get lunch or 💬? 🤔👇

🔔🎫 Is the entry price too expensive? 💰💰💰
York Minster’s magnificent bells rang out across the city, carrying a tradition that has echoed through these historic streets for centuries. Behind these grand stone walls, a constant journey of preservation ensures that this timeless soundscape will continue to ring out for generations to come.
💰Of course, preserving a masterpiece like this isn't cheap—it reportedly costs upwards of £30,000 a day to run the Minster! 🕍
With standard adult sightseeing tickets priced at £20 (though it acts as an annual pass and kids go free), it often sparks a big debate.
What do you think? 🎫Is £20 a fair price to support the upkeep of our incredible heritage, or is it getting too expensive to explore? 👇

POV: You step outside the historic center of York and find the England you’ve always seen in movies. 🇬🇧✨
Beyond the ancient city walls lies a world of quiet lanes, blooming roses over wooden gates, vintage cars, and iconic red telephone boxes. It’s the perfect reminder that the best travel memories happen when you slow down and explore just a little further out of the city 🌹🏡
