Another fun filled bank holiday weekend draws to a close, thanks to all who have visited us this year, hopefully we'll see you again next year, or next open days will be Easter Sunday and Monday, the 28th and 29th of March 2027.

Derwen Fawr Miniature Railway
Good Morning everyone, it is quite blowy but dry here, and we are busy here setting up ready for our last open day of the year.
gates open at 10 with the first train around 10:30 and close at 4 with the last train sometime afterwards.

It's still just £1 entry and £1 per person each ride (under 3s free), we are only able to take cash, the nearest cashpoint is at the Petrol station in Blackpill, the cafe will be open for Tea/Coffee and assorted light refreshments.

Unfortunately Dogs are not allowed on the field for safety reasons.

If you are visiting us via Car, please can you be considerate of our Neighbours, whose good will we rely on, to be able to welcome you all, and ensure that emergency vehicles can access Gwern Einon.
Blackpill Lido /Clyne Gardens car park is just a short walk away.

We hope that everyone has a great Bank Holiday weekend.

Unfortunately rain has stopped play for today, we'll be back open tomorrow to do it all again.

Summer has well and truly arrived, and whilst our next open days are not untill the end of August,
there are plenty of railways of all sizes here in South Wales who are open between now and then.

Bridgend and District Model Engineering Society open most Saturdays, depending on the weather and availability of volunteers, check their page on Thursday for that coming weekend.

The Cardiff Model Engineering Society are open the 28th of June, 19th of July and 30th of August in Heath Park.

Merthyr Tydfil & District Model Engineering Society The railway operates between 12-4:30 Saturday and Sunday, from the 1st April 2026 to September 28th. During School Holidays the railway is open 7 days week between the above dates.

Another Bank holiday weekend draws to a close, thanks to everyone who visited us yesterday and today, we look forward to our next open days on the 30th and 31st of August.

Hope you all had a brilliant weekend, whatever you did.

In the meantime, our friends at the Bridgend and District Society of Model Engineers are open most Saturdays (Weather and Member availability permitting), and they announce on their page Thursdays for the following Saturday.
