A TRIBUTE TO TWO EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN

In 2023, Miss Taxi Ghana faced moments of profound sadness as we lost two of our remarkable changemakers – Madam Pat and Madam Rose. Their passing, following brief illnesses, cast a shadow over our work and lives. At the time, our founder, Esenam, could not bring herself to share publicly about our loss, and we honoured her wish, recognizing that we all grieve differently.

Now, over a year later, we have moved from the denial phase of grieving to acceptance. While their absence is deeply felt, their impact and legacy remain a source of strength and inspiration for us.

Esenam, who journeyed alongside, from their interviews to their training and eventual job placements, often reflects on their inspiring empowerment stories.

Madam Pat demonstrated that age is no barrier to pursuing one's dreams. With unwavering determination, she challenged societal norms by training to become a bus driver, proving that courage and resilience can lead to groundbreaking achievements.

Madam Rose, always vibrant and full of life, exemplified what it means to embrace new opportunities fearlessly. Her resolve to train as a fuel-tank truck driver showcased her dedication to pushing boundaries and paving the way for others.

As we remember Madam Pat and Madam Rose this festive season, we not only mourn them but also celebrate their lives. Their contributions to our shared vision of gender-desegregating the transport industry for women are indelible. Their courage and determination have left a lasting mark, and their stories will continue to inspire us to push forward, breaking barriers and creating opportunities for women in spaces traditionally deemed out of reach.

Rest in power, Madam Pat and Madam Rose. You are forever in our hearts.

THE GEOGRAPHY OF BLISS DOCUMENTARY

Our very own ESENAM NYADOR joined RAINN WILSON in a documentary, shot in Ghana, as he traveled across the world in search of HAPPINESS. The documentary series will be premiered and streamed on the 18th of May on PEACOCKTV, in the USA. For our friends in the States, you are invited to watch the docu-series and share your experience with us.

RAINN WILSON is an American actor, comedian, podcaster, producer, writer, and director β€” widely known for his role as Dwight Schrute on the NBC sitcom The Office, for which he earned three consecutive Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Based on Eric Weiner’s New York Times bestselling book, β€œThe Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World,” Wilson explored some of the happiest and unhappiest places on earth β€” from Iceland to Bulgaria to Ghana β€” in a profound and funny way that unpacks the science of happiness.

All five episodes of the docuseries will stream on Peacock during Mental Health Awareness Month, May 18, 2023.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2023

"I am passionate to the core when it comes to women empowerment, and not a feminist but rather a HUMANIST. I believe HUMANISM is of a higher order and has the power to level all other socially constructed oppressive use of language in creating society's so-called realities. Society's gender relations are constructed through language hence, can equally be deconstructed for a more humanistic, equitable existence and participation."

These are the words of our founder - ESENAM NYADOR. However, her modest philosophy and approach to life will not save her from being celebrated on this day, for her selfless contributions to increasing the percentage of women's participation in Ghana's transport service provision sector.

ESENAM, contrary to your advice of NOT creating this very post, we gladly discard your opinion on this, for the very first time! πŸ˜… Your modesty will not save you, this time around.

ESENAM, you diligently fought a good 'fight' for women's empowerment and all other developmental reasons. You deserve all the international recognitions that come your way!
EMBRACE YOUR ACCOLADES!!!!!
AYEEKO ESENAM, FOR MAKING US PROUD!!!!!

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2023

Imagine a global transportation sector where gender equality is the norm. A sector, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. The transport provision sector needs to be diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A sector where difference is valued and celebrated. It is possible to achieve women's equality in the sector when we work together.
Collectively, we can all .

Today, we humbly take stock of our achievements so far, and honor our 'partners in women's equality crime' who connected the RIGHT DOTS and made the Miss Taxi Ghana, we have today!!!!! Our FIREBALL LADIES gave their life's best to Miss Taxi Ghana and we are forever grateful for their selfless partnerships.

On such a day, we celebrate:

JULIA LJUNGBERG - Former Marketing Consultant, Scania West Africa

JOHANNA MOSS - Former Team Lead, The German Development Cooperation (GIZ) - Ghana

ELINAM HORGLE - Deputy Director, JK Horgle Transport Company

Collectively, you ladies offered your priced contributions and made history in Ghana's transport provision sector!

In her speech at the 'Women in Transport-2018' conference in Kenya, our founder Esenam argued that increasing the percentage of women participating in the road transport industry could no longer be left to happen organically but purposefully induced.

Meet JOYCE AKPADIE, one of the induced changes happening in Ghana's typically male-dominated transport service sector. Joyce, who started as a caterer and Pharmacy Dispensing Technician, now works for the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority as a REACH STACKER OPERATOR!!!!

Miss Taxi Ghana celebrates you JOYCE!!!! You are such a FIREBALL, serving us our daily dose of joy! While the journey has been challenging, we are PROUD OF YOU today, as an Occupational Gender De-segregation advocating organization.
