Rethinking SME Finance and Marketing: Made in The Gambia Shelve available at GYIN Gambia Secretariat for Entrepreneurs at no cost

In a bid to create another marketing avenue for Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs), the Global Youth Innovation Network (GYIN) Gambia Chapter has mounted a shelve at its secretariat to display Made in The Gambia Products.

The Made in The Gambia Shelve is an income generation for SMEs that are members of the network whereby their products will be displayed and have regular digital market thus boosting their market. This also serves as a long-term business growth and creating more and better sales for the SMEs.

Entrepreneurs registered with GYIN Gambia will now have their Made in The Gambia Products sold in GYIN Gambia Secretariat at no charges/cost and customers will directly pay to the business owners account using online digital payment systems.

As part of the implementation of a three (3) months maize project (September – November, 2024), GYIN Gambia Chapter today, Monday, 23rd September, 2024 has deployed its profiling team to profile 3,000 maize farmers in The Gambia.

The intervention regions are: Lower River Region (LRR), North Bank Region (NBR), Central River Region South (CRR South), Central River Region North (CRR North) and Upper River Region (URR) respectively.

GYIN Gambia is currently working with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) in Canada to support 3,000 farmers in the Maize Value Chain in The Gambia.

Exciting News!

GYIN Gambia Chapter in its new project 'Trade Facilitation West Africa (TFWA)' is looking for qualified trainers on entrepreneurship who will train 200 Small-Scale Cross Border Traders in The Gambia.

The project, which is funded by the World Bank, is coordinated and implemented by Doorways gGmbH in conjunction with GYIN Gambia Chapter.

As part of its planned activities, the project will conduct a Training of Trainers (ToT) prior to the training of beneficiaries and applications are now open!

EXCITING TRAINING OPPORTUNITY ALERT!!!

GYIN Gambia Chapter in its new project titled ‘Trade Facilitation West Africa (TFWA) will train about 200 Small-Scale Cross Border Traders in The Gambia’ together with its new partner called Doorways gGmbH, a company based in Germany.

The project is funded by the World Bank. The training will be done in a period of 6 weeks, with two 3-hour sessions for each participant in the week (36 hours total). The trainings will be held in Soma, Lower River Region (LRR) and in Basse, Upper River Region (URR).

NOTE: There is NO CASH GRANT or FUNDING attached to this training!

The objective of the TFWA entrepreneurship training is to enhance 200 Small Scale Cross-Border Traders with the right knowledge and attitude to better trade in the Cross-Border corridors.

The head of Agric Ministry used the interview to commend the National Agricultural Land and Water Management Development Project (Nema) for the support given to farmers this year; that is to say provision of tractors, power-tillers, combined harvesters, milling machines and many other farming inputs.

Fabureh disclosed that what they are yearning for in 2020 as a Ministry, along with the agricultural projects and supports from their development partners, “is scaling-up the value chain”.

The approved budget of the Ministry of Agriculture for the year 2020, is about D100 million more than the budget it was initially allocated by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Mr. Momodou Jabang, expounding on the policy documents, he reported that the Agric Ministry, in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development ( ), they developed the Country Strategic Opportunities Programme (COSOP).

COSOP is a framework for marketing strategic choices about IFAD operations in the country, identifying opportunities for IFAD financing and facilitating management for results.

The central objective of COSOP is to ensure that IFAD country operations produce a positive impact on poverty.
