This is the Ionian in October.

Warm seas, quieter harbours, comfortable sailing temperatures, and some of the most beautiful light of the year.

While the season is winding down, life on the water is still very much alive. There are fewer crowds, more space on the quayside, and plenty of sunshine to enjoy.

🔧 We're Hiring: Experienced Marine Engineer

Sail Ionian is looking for an experienced Marine Engineer to join our team in Vliho, Lefkada.

This is a full-time position with an immediate start, working with our fleet of sailing yachts and supporting the day-to-day operation of one of the Ionian's leading sailing holiday and training companies.

Requirements:
⚓ Minimum 5 years' marine engineering experience
⚓ Strong understanding of yacht systems and electrics
⚓ Valid EU driving licence
⚓ Valid motorboat licence
⚓ Conversational English
⚓ Sailing experience and other practical marine skills beneficial

Could Lefkada be the real home of Odysseus?

More than 100 years ago, German archaeologist Wilhelm Dörpfeld became convinced that Homer’s Ithaca was not modern-day Ithaca at all, but Lefkada. He spent years exploring and excavating sites around the island, particularly near Nidri, searching for evidence to support his theory. While his conclusions remain debated, his work uncovered important archaeological sites and left a lasting mark on Lefkada’s history.

It's a fascinating story that adds another layer to the islands we sail through every week.
