Welcome to Mainland! 🇲🇽🎉

We crossed over from Baja and couldn’t miss a full immersion in the world of tequila in what a wonderful experience ✨

We stayed at Casa Puntual with our van and explored the town on foot, the best way!!
Tequila has a long history and rich meaning and this time spent learning the origins, the distillation process and what this special blend of agave axil represents for the local people was truly eye-opening.

Basically, we always had it wrong, and now we know. 🤣

Postcards from Baja California Sur 🐚

Bouncing from the Pacific coast of Guerrero Negro to Mulege and Playa Coyote (the last video is a bonus!) trying to make peace with the heat and looking for a good place to swim.

It’s hard to keep up with social media when life gives you places like that, so you just put that damn phone away (after taking the photo, of course!) and live the moment.

100 Days. 14,950 Kilometers. One Incredible Beginning.

One hundred days ago, we rolled out of Baltimore in our campervan Kokomo, chasing a dream we’d planned for months: driving the legendary Pan-American Highway all the way to Ushuaia. After 100 days, we’ve reached Querétaro, Mexico, and it’s amazing how much can happen in just 100 days.

We’ve driven 14,950 kilometers (9,290 miles) across two countries, exploring 22 states—15 in the United States and 7 in Mexico. We’ve spent 100 nights on the road, mostly wild camping, with just one night hotel stay, 17 campgrounds, and five unforgettable HomeExchange stays. Along the way we’ve explored five National Parks, experienced three authentic American rodeos (and bought three cowboy hats), completed more than half of Historic Route 66 during its centennial year, climbed to 2,896 meters (9,500 feet) and endured temperatures of 46°C (115°F).

Pepper has now visited 19 countries and is quite possibly Mauritius’ most well-traveled dog. If all goes to plan, she’ll have explored more than 30 countries by the end of this adventure.

We also drove through Sonora. Despite the headlines, we made it out alive.

But the numbers only tell part of the story.

They don’t capture sunrise over Monument Valley, hiking through Utah’s spectacular red rock National Parks, driving the iconic Route 66, swimming with sea lions and manta rays in Baja California, or camping beneath skies overflowing with stars. They don’t show the incredible diversity of the American South, the vibrant energy of these states often overlooked, reconnecting with old friends, or the kindness of our HomeExchange hosts, who welcomed us into their homes and quickly became friends.

One hundred days down. Tens of thousands of kilometers to go. Ushuaia is still a long way away—and that’s exactly the way we want it.
