⚫🟡⚫🟡⚫A Brief Tribute to Yayoi Kusama ⚫🟡⚫🟡⚫
Yayoi Kusama, the visionary Japanese artist known as the “Queen of Polka Dots⚫🟡⚫,” passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 97.
Born in 1929 in Matsumoto, she transformed lifelong hallucinations into a radical artistic language of endless dots, nets, pumpkins, and mirrored rooms. From her breakthrough *Infinity Nets* in 1950s New York to the immersive *Infinity Mirror Rooms* and the iconic yellow-and-black pumpkins that now stand around the world, she turned personal struggle into universal wonder.
Through painting, sculpture, installation, performance, and writing, she explored infinity, self-obliteration, love, and the cosmos—reminding us that every life is but a single polka dot in an endless universe.
Her work continues to invite us in, dissolve our boundaries, and expand our sense of possibility.
Thank you, Yayoi Kusama, for the infinite light you left behind.
