We are committed to educating people, cleaning up our beautiful island, and putting a stop to littering. It is overtaking fields, mangroves, beaches, roads, and just about every part of the Island. This stems from several factors:
- Much of the garbage washes on the shores due to ocean currents.
- Not enough paid employees hired to clean beaches and roads.
- No littering laws or enforcement.
- Increased littering.
- No education programs to teach about proper garbage disposal. We are committed to organizing massive clean-up operations on the Island. In addition to this, we are fighting for change in laws. Additionally, we hope to educate the public about the horrors that await if trash continues to pile up. This will require volunteers, large-scale machinery, and people willing to educate others about plastic and garbage pollution and the proper disposal of trash. Funds from donations will be spent on the following:
1. Truck rentals in order to move garbage.
2. Sacs and gloves.
3. Material to make signs about littering laws.
4. Crane rental in order to pick up garbage.
5. Gas for trucks.
6. Rakes.
7. Shovels.
8. Garbage bins with tops OR wood in order to incase garbage bins.
9. Large sifting tools.
10. Fixing the recycling machine so that It can be used.
11. A sifting machine for regular weekly maintenance of island clean-ups (Examples on http://www.hbarber.com/AboutUs/contactmobile.html). Please contact us if you would like to be part of this much-needed movement.
