Čestitamo Lučkoj upravi Rijeka 30. obljetnicu osnutka i zahvaljujemo na pozivu da budemo dio obilježavanja ovog važnog jubileja. ⚓

Tri desetljeća rada Lučke uprave Rijeka obilježila su razvoj riječke luke i njezinu transformaciju u jedno od najvažnijih intermodalnih logističkih čvorišta sjevernog Jadrana. Dugoročno strateško promišljanje, ulaganja i suradnja svih ključnih dionika danas se jasno vide u rezultatima koje riječka luka ostvaruje.

Iz perspektive Rijeka Gatewaya, podrška Lučke uprave bila je i ostaje iznimno važan dio realizacije našeg projekta. Zahvalni smo na suradnji, povjerenju i zajedničkom radu na razvoju luke koja ima velik značaj za Rijeku, širi riječki kraj i Hrvatsku.

Radujemo se nastavku suradnje i projektima koji su pred nama. 💙

Congratulations to the Rijeka Port Authority on the 30th anniversary of its establishment, and thank you for inviting us to be part of the celebration of this important milestone. ⚓

Over the past three decades, the work of the Rijeka Port Authority has shaped the development of the Port of Rijeka and its transformation into one of the most important intermodal logistics hubs in the Northern Adriatic. Long-term strategic thinking, investment and cooperation between all key stakeholders are clearly reflected in the results the Port of Rijeka is achieving today.

From the perspective of Rijeka Gateway, the support of the Port Authority has been, and remains, an important part of the realisation of our project. We are grateful for the cooperation, trust and joint work on the development of a port that holds great importance for Rijeka, the wider Rijeka region and Croatia.

Povodom Međunarodnog dana žena u pomorskoj industriji, koji obilježava Međunarodna pomorska organizacija (IMO), ugostili smo studentice Pomorskog fakulteta u Rijeci. ⚓

Kroz razgovor i razmjenu iskustava s našim zaposlenicama, buduće mlade stručnjakinje imale su priliku iz prve ruke upoznati kako izgleda rad na suvremenom kontejnerskom terminalu; od operativnih i tehničkih pozicija do planiranja i komercijalnih aktivnosti.

Danas u Rijeka Gatewayu radi 75 žena, prisutnih u svim ključnim dijelovima terminala. Više od polovice njih radi upravo u operativnim i tehničkim funkcijama, što najbolje pokazuje kako se pomorska i logistička industrija mijenjaju i otvaraju nove prilike.

Posebno nam je drago što ovakvim susretima možemo studenticama približiti stvarne karijerne mogućnosti u industriji koju svakodnevno gledaju iz grada i o kojoj uče na fakultetu, ali je tek ovakvi posjeti pokazuju izbliza. 💙

On the occasion of yesterday’s International Day for Women in Maritime, marked by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), we welcomed female students from the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Rijeka to our terminal. ⚓

Through conversations and the exchange of experiences with our female colleagues, these future young professionals had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into what it is like to work at a modern container terminal - from operational and technical roles to planning and commercial activities.

Today, 75 women work at Rijeka Gateway, represented across all key areas of the terminal. More than half of them work in operational and technical roles, which clearly shows how the maritime and logistics industries are changing and opening up new opportunities.

We are especially pleased that meetings like this allow us to bring real career opportunities closer to students in an industry they see from the city every day and study at university - but only visits like this allow them to experience it up close. 💙

U travnju smo pokrenuli novu seriju edukativnih radionica za najmlađe u suradnji s riječkim vrtićima Fiume, Mlaka, Zvonimir Cviić, Podmurvice i Potok. Kroz EDUKIDO koncept i igru Lego kockicama, više od 150 djece imalo je priliku upoznati kako funkcionira luka, na način koji je njima najbliži: kroz igru i stvaranje.

U zadatku "Izgradimo svoju malu luku", slagali su brodove, dizalice, vlakove i svjetionike te učili kako predmeti putuju iz dalekih krajeva do naših domova. 🛳 Osim što potiče dječju znatiželju, projekt razvija fine motoričke vještine i suradnju među djecom, uz razvoj razumijevanja rada luke kao sastavnog dijela njihove urbane okoline.

Vjerujemo da se razvoj ne gradi samo kroz infrastrukturu, već kroz ljude i zajednicu. Zato su ovakve inicijative važan dio naše uloge u gradu u kojem poslujemo. 💙

In April, we launched a new series of educational workshops for the youngest members of our community, in collaboration with Rijeka kindergartens Fiume, Mlaka, Zvonimir Cviić, Podmurvice and Potok. Through the EDUKIDO concept and LEGO-based learning, more than 150 children had the opportunity to explore how a port works - in a way that feels most natural to them: through play and creation.

In the activity “Build Your Own Small Port”, they assembled ships, cranes, trains and lighthouses, learning how everyday goods travel from distant places to our homes. 🛳 In addition to encouraging curiosity, the project supports the development of fine motor skills and teamwork, while helping children understand the role of the port as an integral part of their urban environment.

We believe that long-term development is not built through infrastructure alone, but through people and the community. That is why initiatives like these are an important part of our role in the city we operate in. 💙

🌍 Danas obilježavamo Global Safety Day, u skladu s UN-ovim Svjetskim danom sigurnosti i zaštite zdravlja pri radu te Nacionalnim danom zaštite na radu. Ovogodišnji glavni fokus je na psihološkoj sigurnosti 👉 sigurnije operacije počinju otvorenom komunikacijom.

Ovim povodom, naši timovi sudjeluju u sigurnosnim aktivnostima koje provodi HSSE odjel, s naglaskom na to kako pravovremeno ukazati na rizike, zaustaviti rad kada je potrebno i biti međusobna podrška u promjenjivim uvjetima. Stvoren je i prostor za otvorenu razmjenu mišljenja, uz zajedničku ploču za poruke podrške i priznanja među kolegama. Od sljedećeg tjedna bit će dostupan i poseban sandučić za otvorene ili anonimne povratne informacije, putem kojeg će svi moći podijeliti svoja zapažanja, ideje i prijedloge vezane uz sigurnost, zaštitu i okoliš. 📫

Na našem terminalu sigurnost počinje od ljudi i povjerenja kojeg smo izgradili; svatko može u bilo kojem trenutku reći kada vidi da nešto nije u redu. Nova smo tvrtka i od prvog dana smo svjesni da će upravo ova kultura koju u početku uspostavimo, biti ona koja nas prati godinama. Zato fokus na sigurnosti nije samo danas.

Riječ je o stvaranju okruženja u kojem ljudi svakodnevno paze jedni na druge, na vrijeme ukazuju na potencijalne probleme i imaju podršku da djeluju kada je to potrebno. Sigurnost je temelj svakog uspješnog terminala, ali i zajednička odgovornost svih nas. Briga o sigurnosti dio je naše kulture, ne samo dio procedure. ⚓

🌍 Today, we mark Global Safety Day, aligned with the UN World Day for Safety and Health at Work and the Croatian National Day of Occupational Safety. This year’s focus is on psychological safety 👉 safer operations start with open communication.

On this occasion, our teams are taking part in safety activities led by the HSSE Department, focusing on how to raise concerns in time, pause work when needed and support one another as conditions change. Space has also been created for open discussion, with a shared board for messages of support and peer recognition. From next week, a dedicated feedback box will be available, allowing everyone to share observations, ideas and suggestions related to safety, security and environmental protection, openly or anonymously. 📫

At Rijeka Gateway, safety starts with people and with the confidence to speak up. As a new terminal, the culture we build from day one shapes how we work together for years to come. That is why our focus on safety goes beyond a single day.

It is about creating everyday conditions where people look out for one another, raise concerns early and feel confident to act. In an operational environment, that makes a real difference - supporting better decisions and helping ensure safe and reliable operations for our people, partners and the wider port community. Safety is not only built through procedures. It is built through trust, awareness and the confidence to act. ⚓

Danas je potpisan sporazum o suradnji između ključnih dionika lučkog i carinskog sustava Rijeke, što je važan korak prema jednostavnijem i bržem poslovanju te učinkovitijem protoku robe. 🛳️🚆🚛

Suradnja s Carinskom upravom za nas je od početka partnerstvo usmjereno na sigurnost, olakšavanje trgovine i pouzdane operacije. Carina je bila jedan od ključnih dionika u procesu pokretanja Rijeka Gatewaya, a uvođenje novog sustava privremenog smještaja na našem terminalu još je jedan primjer zajedničkog rada na unapređenju lučkih procesa.

The cooperation agreement between key stakeholders in Rijeka’s port and customs system marks an important step towards simpler processes, faster cargo flow and more efficient operations. 🛳️🚆🚛

Our collaboration with the Croatian Customs Administration has, from the very beginning, been a strong partnership focused on safety, trade facilitation and reliable operations. Customs was one of the key stakeholders in the launch of Rijeka Gateway, and the introduction of the new temporary storage customs system at our terminal is another example of our joint efforts to enhance the quality and efficiency of port processes.

Studenti Sveučilište u Rijeci, Pomorski fakultet proteklih su tjedana imali priliku upoznati rad Rijeka Gateway terminala kroz program stručne prakse. ⚓

Uz podršku 15 mentora, 14 studenata logistike i menadžmenta u pomorstvu i prometu povezalo je teorijsko znanje sa stvarnim operativnim procesima terminala. Program je obuhvaćao dvodnevni boravak u svakom odjelu: prvi dan bio je posvećen teoriji, alatima i organizaciji rada, dok je drugi dan donio praktične primjere iz operative, uz strogo poštivanje sigurnosnih pravila.

Kroz praktične primjere, obilazak Control Rooma i simulaciju planiranja broda stekli su konkretan uvid u stvarne procese i koordinaciju rada na terenu. Kroz Gate odjel studenti su se dodatno upoznali s najmodernijim programskim rješenjima koja se koriste na terminalu. Posebno zanimanje izazvali su praktični operativni scenariji u testnom okruženju, u sklopu kojih su studenti samostalno prolazili kroz ključne procese poput kreiranja bookinga, ERO brojeva i zakazivanja termina (appointmenta), čime su dodatno produbili razumijevanje svakodnevnih operativnih aktivnosti. Studentima je predstavljen i Lean pristup kao temelj načina razmišljanja i kontinuiranog unapređenja poslovanja unutar tvrtke.

Zadnjeg dana prakse obilasku sa studentima pridružili su se i prof. dr. sc. Ana Perić Hadžić, dekanica Pomorskog fakulteta u Rijeci, doc. dr. sc. Mladen Jardas, predstojnik Zavoda za logistiku i menadžment u pomorstvu i prometu te prof. dr. sc. Alen Jugović, nositelj kolegija za Stručnu praksu, kako bi podržali projekt i kontinuiranu suradnju između Pomorskog fakulteta u Rijeci i Rijeka Gatewaya. 🤝

Over the past few weeks, students from the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Rijeka had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the operations of the Rijeka Gateway terminal through a structured internship programme. ⚓

With the support of 15 mentors, 14 students of Logistics and Maritime and Transport Management connected their academic knowledge with real operational processes at the terminal. The programme was organised as a two-day rotation in each department: the first day focused on theory, tools and work organisation, while the second provided practical operational examples, with strict adherence to safety standards.

Through hands-on scenarios, a tour of the Control Room and vessel planning simulations, the students gained a concrete understanding of real processes and on-site coordination. Within the Gate department, they were further introduced to the most advanced software solutions used at the terminal. Particular interest was shown in practical operational scenarios in a test environment, where students independently worked through key processes such as creating bookings, ERO numbers and scheduling appointments, deepening their understanding of daily operations. The Lean approach was also presented as a foundation for continuous improvement and the company’s way of working.

On the final day of the programme, the students were joined by Prof. Ana Perić Hadžić, Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Rijeka, Assoc. Prof. Mladen Jardas, Head of the Department of Logistics and Maritime and Transport Management, and Prof. Alen Jugović, course leader for the internship programme, in support of the project and the ongoing collaboration between the Faculty and Rijeka Gateway. 🤝

⚓️ Na terminalu su po prvi put istovremeno vezana dva feeder broda, AS Sara i K-Stream.

Ovo je važan trenutak za Rijeka Gateway terminal jer je riječ o prvom istovremenom pristajanju brodova koje nam donosi vrijedne uvide, dodatno unapređuje svakodnevne operacije i jasan je pokazatelj rasta operativnih kapaciteta.

Istovremeni prihvat brodova smanjuje vrijeme čekanja, omogućuje brži početak rada i bolje iskorištenje obale. U praksi to znači bržu uslugu i potencijalne uštede za korisnike.

Bio je ovo prvi operativni test, a sljedeća faza su paralelne operacije na oba broda. Napredujemo iz dana u dan, korak po korak. 🚀

⚓️ For the first time, two feeder vessels - AS Sara and K-Stream - have been berthed simultaneously at Rijeka Gateway.

A meaningful milestone for a young terminal and a clear sign of growing operational capability. This marks the first simultaneous vessel call, providing valuable operational insight and supporting day-to-day performance.

Simultaneous berthing reduces waiting times, enables a faster start of operations and ensures full use of the quay. More efficient operations translate into quicker service and potential cost savings for customers.

This was the first operational test. The next step is parallel operations on both vessels. Progress continues, day by day. 🚀

[MEET OUR TEAM]
Na svakom terminalu postoji tim koji rijetko dolazi u fokus, ali bez kojeg nijedna operacija ne bi započela ni završila. U Rijeka Gatewayu to je naš Maintenance Planning team, mali tim s velikom odgovornošću, koji svakodnevno osigurava da sustavi, vozila i dizalice rade pouzdano i bez zastoja.

Za većinu njih ovo je prvo profesionalno iskustvo, i to u okruženju koje od prvog dana zahtjeva visoki stupanj odgovornosti. U vrlo kratkom vremenu preuzeli su brigu o kompleksnoj opremi i procesima, brzo učili i razvijali se u sustavu koji ne ostavlja puno prostora za pogreške. Rezultati njihovog rada su izvanredni 👉 u usporedbi s drugim terminalima unutar grupacije, naš tim je među najboljima! 🏆

Njihov rad rijetko je u prvom planu, ali bez njega niti jedna operacija ne bi tekla kako treba. Od planiranja održavanja i upravljanja rezervnim dijelovima do pravovremenog prepoznavanja potencijalnih problema, ☝️ fokus je na sprječavanju zastoja prije nego što do njega dođe.

At every terminal, there is a team that rarely comes into focus, yet without it no operation would ever start or finish. At Rijeka Gateway, this is our Maintenance Planning team - a small team with a big responsibility, ensuring every day that systems, vehicles and cranes operate reliably and without interruption.

For most of them, this is their first professional experience, in an environment that demands a high level of responsibility from day one. In a very short time, they have taken ownership of complex equipment and processes, learning quickly and developing in a system where there is little room for error. Their results speak for themselves 👉 compared to other terminals across the group, our team ranks among the best! 🏆

Their work is rarely in the spotlight, but without it operations simply wouldn’t run as they should. From maintenance planning and spare parts management to the early identification of potential issues ☝️ the focus is clear: preventing disruptions before they happen.

Jučer je na terminal prvi put pristao kontejnerski brod AS Sara, koji će ubuduće dolaziti na tjednoj bazi kao dio novog feeder servisa.

Riječ je o brodu dužine 175 metara i kapaciteta 1.713 TEU, izgrađenom 2010. godine, koji plovi pod portugalskom zastavom. Zanimljivost je da se radi o tzv. "geared" brodu opremljenom vlastitim dizalicama, iako mu na našem terminalu neće biti potrebne. 😊

Dolazak novog servisa naglašava sve veću ulogu Rijeke kao ključnog transhipment čvorišta, iz kojeg se teret dalje usmjerava prema Trstu i Veneciji. 📍 Na Rijeka Gateway terminal će sada pristajati jedna matična linija i dva feeder servisa tjedno.

Yesterday, the container vessel AS Sara called at the terminal for the first time and will now operate on a weekly basis as part of a new feeder service.

The vessel is 175 metres long, with a capacity of 1,713 TEU. Built in 2010, it sails under the Portuguese flag. Notably, it is a "geared" container vessel equipped with its own cranes, although they won’t be needed at our terminal. 😊

The introduction of this service highlights Rijeka’s growing role as a transhipment hub, with cargo further distributed to ports such as Trieste and Venice. 📍 With this addition, Rijeka Gateway now handles one mainline service and two feeder services on a weekly basis.
