Hidden inside the cliffs of Dugi Otok lies a fascinating piece of history.

This military tunnel was built by the Yugoslav People’s Army during the Cold War as a secret shelter for naval vessels, protected from possible air attacks. The entrance was carefully hidden within a natural bay, making it almost invisible from the open sea. For years, it wasn’t marked on public maps, and access was restricted due to its military purpose.

Interestingly, the tunnels were never fully completed because construction stopped when the Croatian War of Independence began in 1991. Today, what was once a military secret has become one of Dugi Otok’s most unique attractions.

Cruising through this tunnel feels like stepping back in time. 🌊⚓
