Last interview with Croatian shipowner and captain, late Ivan Urlic at 88 years. ⛴️💙
He was still working at that age.
He started his shipping career very young at only 13 years old. Navigating with small boats and trading with fruits and vegetables from shops his parents owned in Makarska riviera and Dalmatian islands in Croatia.
He bought his first large vessel at age of 25.
He went through numerous Corto Maltese-style adventures, especially in communist Yugoslavia which nationalised his ships, and survived several wars.
We found records of his adventures in several books by various authors.
People from Neretva valley said that he was the hardest working person in the valley.
And people from famous Captains place Krilo Jesenice voted him as the best captain ever in Croatia.
He died in 2000. at the age of 92. in his sleep.
