Proud to be sponsoring this action informing us and the locals about fresh water streams and their biodiversity in the islands of Paros and Naxos.
We supported the scientists of HCMR Institute of Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters. We sailed with them to the islands for sapmling and collected precious data in Paros, Naxos and Icaria. Now they are presenting the results to local schools and authorities.
🌿💧 Τα νησιωτικά ρέματα της Πάρου κρύβουν έναν μοναδικό κόσμο ζωής!
Στις 4 & 5 Μαΐου 2026, ομάδα του ΕΛΚΕΘΕ από τον Τομέα Εσωτερικών Υδάτων, στο, πλαίσιο της υποτροφίας της Anastasia Lampou «CARE», που χρηματοδοτήθηκε από την WWF Greece και υλοποιείται μέσω της πρωτοβουλίας «Συμμαχία για την Άγρια Ζωή», ταξιδεύει στην Πάρο για δύο ημέρες αφιερωμένες στη βιοποικιλότητα και τα υδάτινα οικοσυστήματα του νησιού.
👩🔬👨🔬 Μαθητές και μαθήτριες θα συμμετάσχουν σε βιωματικές δράσεις πεδίου που έχουν σχεδιαστεί από την Μονάδα Εκπαίδευσης του ΕΛΚΕΘΕ, στο ρέμα της Νάουσας και θα γίνουν «επιστήμονες για μια μέρα», γνωρίζοντας από κοντά τα μικρά πλάσματα του ποταμού, την ποιότητα του νερού και τη σημασία προστασίας των υδάτινων οικοσυστημάτων.

🌿💧 The island streams of Paros hide a unique world of life!
On May 4 & 5, 2026, a team from the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research - HCMR , specifically from the Inland Waters Sector, will be traveling to Paros. The visit is part of Anastasia Lampou 's "CARE" scholarship, funded by WWF Greece and implemented through the "Wildlife Alliance" initiative. The two-day visit will be dedicated to the island’s biodiversity and aquatic ecosystems..
👩🔬👨🔬 Students will take part in hands-on field activities designed by HCMR’s Education Unit at the Naoussa stream, becoming “scientists for a day” as they explore the river’s tiny organisms, water quality, and the importance of protecting aquatic ecosystems.
