Budapest by Car on a Hot Summer Day

I spent four lovely hours with kind guests from the United States, showing them the most important sights of Budapest by car.

On a very hot summer day, a private tour by car was the perfect choice: comfortable driving, short photo stops, beautiful views and many stories along the way.

At Kossuth Square, in front of the Parliament, the water mist created a special atmosphere around the square, and in the extreme heat, it was more than welcome. Sometimes even the smallest details become part of the memory.

Budapest in 3 Hours

Yesterday I had the pleasure of showing Budapest to two lovely couples from Colorado.

They had only one day in the city, so we planned a short, comfortable 3-hour private tour by car - with beautiful views, photo stops and local stories along the way.

Budapest truly impressed them: the river, the bridges, the Castle District, the grand buildings and the incredible number of sights in such a compact city.

Sometimes even a short stay is enough to understand why Budapest is so special.

Buda Side by Car

Today’s private sightseeing tour by car focused on the Buda side of Budapest with a lovely American family.

In four hours, we travelled through different layers of the city’s history - from ancient Roman times to the Middle Ages and all the way to one of Budapest’s most impressive panoramic viewpoints.

We started at the ruins of the Roman amphitheatre, a quiet reminder that this part of Budapest was already an important place almost 2,000 years ago.

From there, we continued to the Buda Castle District, where we wandered through the medieval streets, enjoyed the unique atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage area, and admired the breathtaking view from Fisherman’s Bastion.

To finish the tour, we visited the newly renovated Citadella and the Liberty Bastion on the top of Gellért Hill - one of the best places to understand why Budapest is so often called one of the most beautifully located capitals in Europe.

Four hours, many stories, fascinating details, comfortable driving, short walks and unforgettable views.

Budapest is beautiful from many angles - but the Buda side has a magic of its own.

From Budapest Airport to Buda Castle and Vienna

This week I had the pleasure of looking after two lovely guests from California.

Their Budapest experience started with my signature More Than a Transfer service from the airport. Not just a simple ride to the hotel, but a relaxed first introduction to the city: useful tips, local advice, ideas for what to discover, and plenty of stories about Budapest while we drove comfortably into town.

For the next day, we originally planned a 3-hour historical walking tour in Buda Castle. But Budapest had other plans: the summer heat was simply too strong.
So we changed the program and turned it into a comfortable 4-hour private tour by car on the Buda side.
That was the perfect decision.
We explored the Buda Castle area, the Roman ruins of Aquincum, and the spectacular panorama from the Citadella - always returning to the cool comfort of the car between the stops. Along the way, I shared stories about Hungarian history, the city, the country, and all those little details that make Budapest much more than just beautiful buildings and viewpoints.

On the third day, it was time to continue to Vienna, where their Danube river cruise program began. An easy 3-hour private drive from Budapest, smooth and comfortable all the way.

Airport arrival, private sightseeing, and transfer to Vienna - everything went smoothly from start to finish.

I hope to welcome them back one day.

Lake Balaton Day Trip from Budapest

Yesterday with a lovely American family we spent a beautiful day at Lake Balaton, and Tihany welcomed us in one of its most charming seasons.

The Tihany Peninsula was covered with blooming lavender, giving the whole village that special summer atmosphere: colours, fragrance, quiet streets and the feeling that time slows down a little by the Hungarian Sea.

After discovering the lovely old village of Tihany, we visited one of the lavender fields, where my guests could pick some lavender for themselves - a small, simple experience, but exactly the kind of moment that makes a private day trip memorable.

From Tihany, we continued to Balatonfüred, where they enjoyed a walk along the lakeside Tagore Promenade, one of the most elegant and peaceful parts of Lake Balaton.

Of course, a Hungarian day trip should also include proper local food. For lunch, we stopped at a traditional csárda, where they tried, among other dishes, mangalica pork stew rich, local and very Hungarian.

And to crown the day, we finished with a private wine tasting in the beautiful hills of the Balatonfüred wine region, with wonderful local wines, warm hospitality and a stunning view over Lake Balaton.

Lavender fields, lakeside walks, Hungarian flavours, local wine and one of the most beautiful landscapes of the country.

This is why Lake Balaton is much more than just a lake.

It is a feeling.

Oradea (Nagyvárad)

Yesterday was a very special day. One of my guests grew up here, living in Oradea, RO until the age of 11, and returned to his hometown for the first time in 26 years. While he was rediscovering childhood memories, I took the opportunity to explore the city myself.

Oradea, known in Hungarian as Nagyvárad, is simply stunning. Magnificent Art Nouveau and baroque architecture, elegant squares and charming streets make it one of the most beautiful cities in the region. The city is also closely connected to great Hungarian figures such as Endre Ady, who spent some of his most creative years here, and King Saint Ladislaus, the city’s founder and enduring symbol.

Beautiful city. Rich history. Definitely worth a visit.

A Day in the Danube Bend

Today I had the pleasure of exploring one of the most beautiful regions of Hungary with two lovely guests from South Carolina.

Leaving Budapest behind, the city slowly gave way to green hills, historic towns and the wide curve of the Danube. This is why I enjoy Danube Bend day trips so much: the scenery is spectacular, but every stop also tells a different chapter of Hungarian history.

We discovered the region at a relaxed pace, enjoying the magnificent river views, the atmosphere of our old towns and the stories that shaped this part of the country. From the grandeur of Esztergom to the unforgettable panorama of Visegrád and the colourful streets of Szentendre, the Danube Bend offers much more than a simple escape from Budapest.

It is a day of nature, history, good conversation and beautiful views, without rushing from one attraction to another.

Pentecost Festival at Matthias Church

Sometimes Budapest gives you a little surprise just when you think the day is already beautiful enough.

In front of Matthias Church, during the Pentecost Festival, people were dancing to traditional Hungarian folk music with the towers of the church, the old stones of Buda Castle, and the atmosphere of history all around them.

This is one of the things I love most about Budapest.

It is not only a city of monuments, panoramas and famous buildings. It is also a city where traditions still appear naturally, sometimes in the middle of a private tour, turning a simple stop into a real memory.
🇭🇺❤️
