Condé Nast Traveler published its annual Readers’ Choice Awards for the 26th time this year. Readers as usual could rank cities according to culture, friendliness, atmosphere, restaurants, lodging, and shopping. Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards has always been popular, but this year it proved to be more so as they collected 1.3 million votes for 16,000 places around the world.
Budapest was quite popular among voters! They found our sweet little city in the heart of Europe to be the #1 Best City in Europe and the #2 Best City in the World. On both lists, Budapest shares #1 and #2 with Florence, Italy.
The overall ranking of Budapest was 83.8, and it was only San Miguel de Allende that got higher points on these two lists. Voters commentary included that Budapest is “a classic masterpiece,” it has “a different feeling than other European cities” and that “everything about Budapest is entrancing.”
