The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) continues to advance its UAV program with the latest flight tests of the PUNA Alap-alap. This tactical unmanned aircraft is developed for surveillance, mapping, and reconnaissance missions. Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), PT ABE Indonesia Berjaya, and Japan's Green Power Development Corporation (GPDJ) are developing a bioavtur (sustainable aviation fuel) industry using non-standard coconuts.

This initiative, supported by the Indonesia Japan Business Network (IJBNet), has led to the construction of a plant in Banyuasin, South Sumatra. The project aims to produce 100 tons of crude coconut oil daily, contributing to global carbon emission reduction efforts in aviation.

Near Earth Autonomy, a Pittsburgh-based company, in collaboration with NASA, has developed autonomous drones capable of conducting preflight inspections of commercial airliners. These drones have been successfully tested on Boeing aircraft, including an Emirates Airlines Boeing 777-300ER in Dubai.

The drone-based inspection system significantly reduces inspection times from up to four hours to less than 30 minutes, enhancing efficiency and safety. By capturing high-resolution images of the aircraft's exterior, the system allows maintenance personnel to remotely analyze and identify potential issues, thereby minimizing aircraft downtime and operational disruptions.

At the 2025 Airbus Summit, Airbus reaffirmed its commitment to hydrogen-powered aviation, unveiling a concept for a fully electric aircraft powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The design features four 2-megawatt electric engines supplied by liquid hydrogen tanks.
