It is best approached with a negative entry and rapid descent to maximize air and bottom time, especially to explore the smaller pinnacles. 📍 Exploring Siaba Besar: A Diver's Paradise

Siaba Besar is a dive site that offers a unique opportunity for divers to explore two distinct areas. The first option is the coral bommies and sandy bottom area, which is a haven for macro critters such as Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Frogfish, Pipefish, Nudibranchs, Crabs, and Shrimps. It's also common to spot Dugongs roaming around the turtle grass if you're lucky. Alternatively, the reef at the sandy slope's edge is known as Turtle Town and is home to diverse reef fish, including Green turtles that gather around the Staghorn- and Cabbage coral garden. 📍 Discover the Wonders of Mawan Island's Hard Coral Reef

Dive into the beautiful island of Mawan and discover its small white- and pink-sand beach, green vegetation, and turquoise waters. With a maximum depth of 30m, it boasts a fringing coral garden, sandy slope, and rubble corals that attract various marine life.
Mawan is the second dive site where you can encounter majestic Manta Rays, making it a popular spot for divers of all levels. You will mostly jump at the northern side of the island to check the cleaning station for present Manta Rays. If they are there, you can enjoy them in the shallow depths. As you move further south, you can drift/swim over the coral garden and spot several types of sharks, turtles, cuttlefish, and small critters if the current allows.
The dive typically ends at the sandy slope, which is another cleaning station for the gentle giants. However, be aware of the current and follow your guide's instructions for a pleasant dive. We will give a full briefing about Manta encounter rules before the dive.

📍 Exploring the Rich Cultural Heritage of Bena Village

Nestled at the foot of Mount Inerie, Bena village is home to nine distinct tribes whose primary occupation is farming. Immerse yourself in the village's ancient heritage, and experience the warm hospitality of the locals. Once you enter Bena village, you will come across stone monuments, an ancestor worship sanctuary, and a well-preserved megalithic culture in a remote area that has been maintained for over 1,200 years.

The village's unique architecture is arranged on terraced land, with square-shaped houses and central spaces used for local community gatherings. Admire the stunning green landscape across the hills, with mountains providing a spectacular backdrop to the panoramic view of the Savu Sea.

Despite the passage of time, the people of Bena village continue to live a traditional lifestyle. You will see houses with high thatched roofs from afar, and a sacred sanctuary in the village center called Ngadhu and Bhaga. This pair of shrines represent the ancestors of the clans, with one for each clan in the village. The Ngadhu symbolizes fierceness and masculinity and represents the male ancestor. In contrast, the Bhaga represents the female ancestor.

The village's inhabitants believe that preserving the Stone Age allows them to connect with their ancestors and enter the supernatural realm, although this ceremony sometimes involves animal sacrifice. Visitors can purchase locally made ikat and woven cloth, available in a wide variety of motifs.
