From all of us at Port of Cork, we would like to wish the Cork Senior Hurling team the very best of luck in this Sunday's Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final against Limerick at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The Rebels have shown tremendous determination, skill and resilience throughout the championship so far, and the county will be out in force to support them on home soil as they bid for Munster glory.

Best of luck to the players, management and supporters for what promises to be a fantastic occasion.

Spirit of Discovery sails into Bantry Bay tomorrow as cruise activity continues across the bay throughout June.

Scheduled calls at both Bantry Inner and Bantry Outer anchorages will see vessels including Spirit of Discovery and Le Champlain supported by our marine operations teams, ensuring safe and efficient movements for cruise guests visiting West Cork.

Following a successful visit by Deutschland earlier this week, cruise calls continue to deliver valuable economic benefits to local businesses, attractions and communities, contributing to a strong 2026 season for the region.

Step aboard history right here in Cork City. ⛵

The stunning replica of Christopher Columbus’s flagship, the Nao Santa María, is currently docked at Albert Quay, having sailed into Cork City last week as part of the Cork Harbour Festival.

This impressive modern-day recreation is built in every detail to mirror La Santa María de la Inmaculada Concepción - the largest of the three ships that carried Columbus across the Atlantic on his first voyage in 1492.

A rare opportunity to experience maritime history up close, the ship will remain open and docked at Albert Quay until June 8 - don’t miss the opportunity to explore it this weekend.

One month on from the launch of our first ever direct container service to New York with CMA CGM, we are already seeing the positive impact of this new connection for Cork Harbour and for the wider region.

The weekly fixed day service is giving exporters and importers faster and more reliable access to the US East Coast. It has reduced transit times, removed the need for feeder connections through European hubs and strengthened supply chain resilience for key industries across Munster. This partnership is an important step forward in enhancing Ireland’s international shipping connectivity and supporting continued trade growth.

Mariners are advised that the Spike Island Swim will take place on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026 between Spike Island and Cobh.

Approximately 30 swimmers will enter the water at Spike Island Pier at 6:30pm, crossing the main navigational channel to the Department of Defence Pier in Cobh. All swimmers are expected to be ashore by 7:45pm.

The swim will be supported by safety boats and sea kayaks.

Mariners are requested to:
Keep well clear of swimmers and es**rt craft
Minimise wash when operating in the vicinity
Comply with instructions from safety vessels on scene

All harbour users are thanked in advance for their cooperation in ensuring the safety of this event.

The Deutschland is in Cobh today to kick off another month of cruise calls in Cork Harbour. 🛳️

June’s cruise schedule brings a steady flow of vessels into Cork Harbour, with calls to both Cobh Cruise Terminal and Ringaskiddy Deepwater Berth throughout the month. Our pilotage, towage and harbour operations teams will support each arrival to ensure safe, efficient movements as the 2026 season continues to progress.

Cruise activity remains an important contributor to local businesses, attractions and communities across the region, and June’s schedule reflects another strong period for the harbour.

As Cork Harbour Festival kicks off this weekend, everyone at the Port of Cork would like to wish the very best of luck to all event organisers, participants and volunteers across the city and harbour region for what promises to be another fantastic celebration of our maritime heritage and harbour community.

A special best of luck to all those taking part in Ocean to City – An Rás Mór, Ireland’s iconic long-distance rowing and paddling race. Since 2005, this flagship Cork Harbour event has grown into one of the largest and most inclusive races of its kind, welcoming hundreds of participants in everything from traditional currachs and skiffs to kayaks, canoes and paddle boards.

With thousands of spectators expected along the harbour and city quays, we encourage all harbour users to navigate with caution on Saturday 30th June and to be mindful of race participants and recovery operations in the city marina areas throughout the afternoon and evening.

We look forward to another safe, successful and vibrant weekend showcasing the very best of Cork Harbour.

Cork Harbour Festival takes place from Friday to Monday.

Did you know? It is estimated that a standard shipping container or one TEU can hold 48,000 bananas.

With large modern container ships now being able to carry up to 24,000 TEUs then it would be theoretically possible to hold 1,152,000,000 bananas at once.
