Today is the first anniversary of the passing of Gerard (Dobber) Hayes, brother of Paddy.
Dobber was a lovely guy, a great character and is sorely missed.
Sincere condolences to his family at this sad time, may he rest in peace.

On this day we remember one of the nicest guys you could meet, André Barwegen.
André was a manager in the Walsh Western Office in Hardewijk and would have been mostly our direct contact.
You could not find a nicer, more helpful, friendly guy than André to deal with who also used to join us for a beer in Nickys bar on the odd occasion.
Sincere condolences to Andrés family and friends on the day of remembrance, may he rest in true peace.

The 21st of August marks the anniversary of the lovely gentleman Peter Power.
A lovely guy to be around. Rest in peace Peter, sincere condolences to his family at this time of remembrance.

Just a message from Kieran and all the McInerney family to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you who attended Josies funeral services and offered condolences and were just there to support them.
As Kieran says Josie would have been so proud.
We lost a true friend, legend and great character when we lost Josie.
Once again our sincere condolences to Kieran and the family.
Rest in true peace Josie.

Bought these photos from Markos Trucks during the week. Marko, thankfully, took a lot of photos in Holland and Germany and has a huge archive of these photos.
He did say he had more Walsh Western photos but he had to find them and digitise them so hopefully more to come.
Two of the photos are of big Eddie O’Connors Topline Scania and the other is of one of the left hand drive 113 Scanias that were originally registered in Belgium.
This particular one I ended up driving myself in Cork for a couple of years and was then bought and completely restored by Tim Kenneally of Hire Fleet. He still has it and still uses it himself to drop and pick up hire trailers to he customers when the need arises.
It’s nice to see genuine guys like Tim not only restoring and saving these trucks, but also keeping them in daily use for everyone to see.

24th of July is the anniversary of another of our great friends Richie Murphy.
A true gentleman who always had a smile on his face and loved the bit of crack and banter.
A thorough gentleman who is sadly missed.

Very sad news that the gentleman, legend and great friend , Josie McInerney passed away this morning after a short illness.
Josie McInerney. Where do we start?
I started in Walsh Western International in March 1988 and spent 33 years and three months in a happy place to work, for the most part.
The main reason for Walsh Western being such a happy place, a family rather than a job, was because of the amazing people we were surrounded by, and Josie McInerney was one of those who made it such a joy. It was a pleasure to arrive in Parteen week after week to collect the groupage from Dell, Digital , Northern Telecom, Fullflex and others and then on to Santry before shipping out with B&I.
Back then Josie was the man in charge in the warehouse in Parteen and the pressure he was under with the amount of trucks coming and going in a hurry must have been serious, but you would never think it, everything was taken in his stride and I can honestly say the I have never had a cross word with Josie in all that time, nor did I ever witness anyone else in that situation either.
Josie later went back on to driving and became an owner driver. The joy of meeting with Josie in Lutterworth of an evening would make the troubles of the day just fade away.
Always a lovable guy to talk to, who could hold his own on any subject, if you wanted serious conversation you got it, but Josie was always partial to the bit of fun and banter when it was deemed necessary.
To say he will be missed is an understatement, another Walsh Western Legend heading to his reward.
Sincere condolences to his family and many friends, we can’t begin to imagine how they must be feeling.
Rest in true peace Josie, there’s a tear in my eye writing this and I hope I’ve done you justice.

The absolute gentleman and great friend to us all, Bert Louer. 3 years gone from us on the 18th of July.
The nicest cup of coffee on the continent and we didn’t have to go near a shop for it.
Bert was just one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet, I can honestly never recall him being angry or downhearted.
Rest in Peace Bert old friend, you’ll never be forgotten here.
