But Great Blasket isn’t just about the scenery.

This remote island was once home to a unique Irish-speaking community. Generations lived here through fishing, farming and island life before the population was evacuated in 1953.

Today, you can walk among the remains of the old village and experience the same landscapes that inspired some of Ireland’s most famous island storytellers.
