Travel By Ruth Ann After 25+ years planning travel for my employers, retirement gave me the chance to turn my passion into a gift for others.

Now I help friends and fellow adventurers explore the places we’ve only dreamed of—because life’s too short not to go!

We were talking about how gorgeous it would be up there in Fall! I would be happy to design a great vacation if you’re interested!

After a wonderful long weekend with family, Scott and I traveled farther north in Door County on Monday and spent the day exploring Washington Island! 💜🌿

One of my favorite stops was Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm and Shop! The fields were absolutely lovely and so fragrant! 💜 We enjoyed their delicious lavender lemonade and, of course, couldn’t resist the fudge and cookies. 😋

We also climbed the lookout tower at Mountain Park and were rewarded with beautiful views of the island. 🌳🌊

And, of course, we had to stop by the infamous Schoolhouse Beach! 🪨🌊 No rocks were taken, but we did enjoy the fresh air and sunshine for a while. The water was WAY too cold for us southerners! 🥶😂

The ferry ride over and back was part of the fun, too!

Today we’re headed home after such a lovely trip filled with family time, beautiful places, good food, and so many great memories. ❤️

Until next time, Door County! 🍒🌿

✈️ Ladies, I just had a layover at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) and I HAVE to brag on the ladies’ restrooms! 🚻👏

They are upgrading the restrooms, and I have to say… they are doing it RIGHT!

✨ Occupancy indicator lights so you can see which stalls are open (if you’ve ever had to bend over to see feet in the stall before you push the door 🤣🤣🤣 - this is awesome!)
✨ Individual lighted mirrors
✨ Sink step stools
✨ Convenience shelving
✨ Hooks inside the stalls for your purse or bag
✨ And my favorite part — the sinks have all 3 things you need right there: soap, water AND an air dryer! No stepping away from your spot with wet hands! 🙌

And let me just say… I am a restroom connoisseur. 😂 I notice these things when I travel, and these are AWESOME!

Who knew I’d be this excited about an airport bathroom?! 🤣

Now I want to know… what’s the best restroom you’ve discovered while traveling? ✈️🚻👇

💕 Saturday in Door County, WI, with the grandkids! 💕

Our Saturday started with breakfast at Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant, where we enjoyed their famous Swedish pancakes—and, of course, loved watching the goats hanging out on the roof! 🐐🥞

Then we headed to Cana Island Lighthouse. The beaches and scenery around the lighthouse were absolutely beautiful, and we ALL made the climb to the top for some incredible views! 🌊🗼

Next up was some swimming at Ephraim Public Beach, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying some time in the water. ☀️🏖️

After working up an appetite, we headed to Wilson's Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor for another delicious meal. The little old-fashioned tabletop jukeboxes at each table were such a fun touch! 🎶🍔 I had to play Wild Thing and cut up with the kids! They play awesome music, by the way, while you’re lunching!

And, of course, we couldn’t leave without ice cream and shakes for a special treat. 🍦🥤

Because what better way for grandparents to spoil their grandchildren than with sugar… and then more sugar! 😂❤️

Another full day, another adventure, and so many sweet memories made together. We sure are loving this time with our grandchildren in Door County! 🥰

We’re spending a few days with our son, daughter-in-law, and FIVE grandchildren in Door County, WI! ❤️ Today was our first full day, and we definitely made the most of it!

Our first stop was The Farm where the kids got to milk a goat, play with the sweetest fuzzy kittens, feed baby goats with bottles, and spoil the rest of the animals with as much corn as we could carry! 🐐🐱🌽

Rosie, the Highland cow, was definitely a favorite. She had the longest tongue and was quite the character! 😂🐮

Next up was the Door County Maritime Museum, where we learned so much about the history of the area. The view from the top was beautiful, too! ⚓️🌊

Then it was off to lunch at Third Street Cafe, a stop at Egg Harbor beach, sandwiches back at the condo, and, of course, we had to end the day with ice cream from Grumpys Ice Cream, Egg Harbor WI! 🍦

We finished our day by driving north to Fish Creek to watch the sunset. It was cloudy, but still absolutely beautiful. We walked through the lovely little town, which was filled with flowers, flags, and the cutest yard decorations. 🌸🇺🇸

Day ONE was a success! ❤️ So much fun, lots of laughs, and plenty of memories already being made with our family. And we’re just getting started! 🥰

Breakfast is one meal I actually look forward to! 🥣🍓

When I’m home, one of my favorites is plain Greek yogurt topped with fresh strawberries and a little sugar-free granola. It’s filling, tastes great, and keeps me going for hours.

But traveling is a different story! It’s so easy to end up in a fast-food drive-thru or at a fun local restaurant where the pancakes, French toast, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls are calling your name. 😄

So tell me… what’s your go-to breakfast when you’re traveling?

Do you try to keep it healthy? Pack something from home? Grab hotel breakfast? Or do you believe vacations are for splurging a little?

I’m always looking for new ideas before our next trip! 🍓☕✈️

Tomorrow we head out on our trip to Wisconsin! ❤️

We’re so excited to meet up with our son, daughter-in-law, and our five wonderful grandchildren in beautiful Door County for a little family getaway.

So looking forward to making sweet memories together—eating ice cream, visiting lighthouses, exploring the beaches, seeing the famous goats on the roof, playing lots of games, and enjoying every minute with our fast- growing grandchildren!

Door County… here we come! 💙 What are your favorite must-see spots or treats in Door County?

Have you collected the same souvenir everywhere you’ve traveled?

For us, it’s always a refrigerator magnet. 🧲 I love walking into the kitchen and seeing reminders of so many wonderful trips. The only problem? We’re officially running out of room! 😂

We also like to pick up a T-shirt if we find one we really love. My husband wears his all the time…mine tend to stay folded in the drawer a little more often. 😊

So now I’m curious…

✈️ What souvenir do you always bring home?

Is it magnets, Christmas ornaments, mugs, shot glasses, T-shirts, local food, artwork, postcards…or something totally unique?

And is there one special souvenir you’re still hoping to find on a future trip?

I’d love to hear your traditions—and maybe discover a few new ideas!
