All of us at Gaelic Gateways are absolutely delighted to hear the wonderful news that our great friends Stephen and Francis at Molly Gallivan’s Traditional Farm and Visitor Centre will welcome an NBC film crew on 16th October! 🎥🇮🇪

It’s fantastic to see such a special place receiving international attention. Molly Gallivan’s is a wonderful celebration of Ireland’s heritage, traditions and warm hospitality, and a place where visitors can experience the real Ireland and the stories that make our country so unique.

Stephen and Francis work tirelessly to share that experience with visitors from all over the world, and we couldn’t be happier to see their hard work and dedication recognised on such a fantastic platform.

What an amazing painting of a tragic time in Irish history.

The painting depicts an Irish labourer on the public works known stage Famine Relief Scheme in 1845-52 by Danny Howes.

Accounts describe workers spending their final moments crawling along the roadside in the direction of their homes. Far from having their wants relieved, thousands of labourers had been effectively worked to death and the health of tens of thousands gravely affected.

It was a privilege to see their exceptional craftsmanship and passion for Irish crystal up close. From the precision and skill in every piece to the stories behind their work, Sean and Adam truly showcase the artistry, tradition and dedication that make Di**le Crystal so special.

Our American guests have been enjoying an unforgettable journey through some of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes, historic sites and cities.

From the historic streets of Edinburgh, to the grandeur of Scone Palace, and on to the home of golf at St Andrews, including a stop at the famous Northpoint Café.

The journey continued north to Inverness, taking in Culloden Battlefield before travelling through the dramatic landscapes of Glencoe and along the shores of beautiful Loch Lomond.

And, of course, no Scottish journey would be complete without time in Glasgow, bringing together Scotland’s rich history, culture and modern character.

Ireland’s oldest pub traces its history back more than 1,100 years.

Sean’s Bar in Athlone can trace its origins to around 900 AD, when a man named Luain Mac Luighdeach is said to have established an inn beside a crossing point on the River Shannon.

During renovations in 1970, workers uncovered sections of the original walls containing ancient wattle and wicker, along with old coins believed to have been used for barter.

Some of these fascinating discoveries are now preserved in the National Museum of Ireland, while Sean’s Bar itself continues to welcome visitors and serve a pint more than a millennium later.

Now that’s a pub with a story.
