Is Your Business Making the Most of the Windsor Framework ❓

The Windsor Framework introduces new processes that can help businesses adapt to evolving trade conditions and strengthen supply chains when moving goods to Northern Ireland.

Here are some key advantages:
📍 Increased Trade Clarity: The framework offers businesses a clearer understanding of how goods should be moved across the Irish Sea, reducing the potential for confusion and errors.

⚙️ Access to Green Lane Benefits: Qualified businesses can benefit from faster processing and fewer checks, helping streamline the flow of goods.

🔗 Stronger Cross-Border Coordination: The updates foster greater collaboration between UK and Northern Ireland authorities, making cross-border trade smoother and more predictable.

These changes not only ensure compliance but also improve trade efficiency, cost savings, and cross-border relationships for your business.

Let’s help your business make the most of these changes.

The New UK-EU Deal 🤝

At the first EU-UK Summit, major steps were taken to rebuild and strengthen trade ties. The commitments reached mark a turning point in the bilateral relationship, with tangible benefits for businesses, consumers, and industry on both sides.

🔹 A Common SPS Area is in development to ease the movement of agri-food goods between the European Union and Great Britain. This includes additional benefits for Northern Ireland, which retains dual market access.

🔹 Tariff-free trade in steel will continue, supporting long-term industrial cooperation.

🔹 A fisheries agreement grants reciprocal access to waters until 2038, providing long-term certainty for the sector.

🔹 The UK may join the EU electricity market, which would improve energy stability, price predictability, and support investment in North Sea renewables.

🔹 Work is underway to link the UK and EU Emissions Trading Systems. This would help deliver on shared climate goals and maintain a level playing field for industry.

🔹 Cooperation on trade in services, business mobility, and competition enforcement is also being strengthened.

This renewed agenda reflects a pragmatic, forward-looking approach and send a clear signal to businesses that cooperation is back on the table.

At Customs Complete, we’re here to support your business with customs clearance, compliance, and trade solutions to help you take full advantage of these developments.

🌍 Is your business ready for ICS2 changes in April 2025?
Big changes are coming to the EU’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2), extending to rail and road transport. This enhanced system ensures safer and more efficient supply chains by requiring detailed Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) data before goods arrive. 📦🚛

Key Updates to Note:
• Expanded Scope: Rail and road carriers, postal operators, and express couriers must submit ENS data.
• Consignee Responsibilities: Final consignees may need to provide ENS data or specific details.
• IT & Testing: Businesses must update systems and complete self-conformance testing for compliance.

💡 Avoid Delays and Stay Compliant:
1. Secure an EORI number to operate within the EU.
2. Upgrade IT systems for seamless ENS submissions.
3. Train your team on compliance procedures.
4. Request deployment windows if systems won’t be ready by April 2025.

📢 Georgia joined the Common Transit Convention 📢

Georgia joined the Common Transit Convention on February 1, 2025! 🌍 This means that goods transported to, from, and through Georgia could benefit from simplified border crossing procedures and reduced customs controls.

By becoming part of this network, Georgia was set to enhance its transit capabilities and ensure faster, safer, and more efficient cargo movement between the EU and other participating countries, including Norway, Iceland, Switzerland, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and the UK.

Key Benefits:

🔹 Simplified Border Crossings: Mutually recognized financial guarantees and reduced controls cut costs for businesses.

🔹 Streamlined Processes: The Common Transit Declaration (CTD) replaced the TIR system for goods transport to and from Georgia.

🔹 Enhanced Safety & Security: Common Transit declarations made in Georgia that included Safety & Security data had to be treated as an Entry Summary Declaration upon arrival in the EU.

This is a significant step forward for Georgia's trade and logistics sector, promising cost savings and streamlined processes for businesses. 📈

To further support businesses, the Customs Compliance team is available 24/7, ensuring seamless operations across borders. With a multilingual team and partnerships with over 95 countries, they help navigate complex customs regulations and streamline logistics processes, making international trade smoother and more efficient.

🚨 Windsor Framework Changes Coming in March 2025 🚨

Significant changes are on the horizon for the movement of goods between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Originally planned for September 2024, the implementation date has been extended to March 31, 2025, providing businesses with more time to prepare for new customs arrangements.

🌟 Key Changes:

•UK Internal Market Lane: Goods for sale or final use by end consumers in the UK and having UK domestic status will no longer require customs declarations or duties when moving from Great Britain to Northern Ireland.

•Eligible Goods: Clothing, electronics, domestic food products, household appliances, and personal care items.

•Exclusions: Goods subject to import controls, licensing requirements, prohibitions, or restrictions.

•Eligibility and Registration: To benefit from the UK Internal Market Lane, goods must be registered under the UK Internal Market Scheme.

•Red Lane for “At Risk” Goods: Goods likely to enter the EU single market will continue to be processed through the Red Lane, with customs declarations and duties required.

🌍 What This Means for Northern Ireland:

•Easier Trade: Moving goods more freely from Great Britain without customs paperwork or duties will reduce administrative burdens and costs.

•Compliance is Key: Proper registration and adherence to new rules will be essential.

📅 Key Dates to Remember:

•March 31, 2025: Full operational status of the UK Internal Market Lane.

•Registration: Ensure goods are registered under the UK Internal Market Scheme.
